I've recently been experimenting with broadening my tastes. Tried a strawberry Melon (diy) and a lemonade peach (premium), while the flavour is OK, it's a bit 'catchy' at the back of the throat.

Anything I can add to a recipe to smooth this out? Tried Marshmallow with only limited success.

Intended vaping is MTL only 3 or 6 nic.

3mg will be less catchy than 6mg and the higher the vg the smoother it should be..
"catchy" at the back of the throat is generally called THROAT HIT.... Premium vapes should potential be a better vape but not always the case..
Your DIY juice may need a little more steeping to let it mellow out.

Thanks for the suggestions.
My usual recipes are more based on coffee's, cream and desserts. I'm not seeing this as a throat hit thing as it's more on the exhale.

I'll let it steep a little while longer and if no better at least my son seems to like it.

I'm quite new to mixing as well and find an extra couple of days steep can usually get rid of the harshness on exhale. Also reducing the amount of concentrate can help. If you can lower it by a % or two and still keep the flavour then that might sort it out.
