So, after 6 years vaping and amassing a shit load of gear, I've more or less settled on a set-up that suits me (IPV3 and recoil rda with dual 0.3 kanthal coils at 50W). I've also arrived at a home-made juice that I really like so I'm pretty happy and vaping pretty cheaply. My only problem is when I'm driving or out for the night when dripping is impractical. So, squonking. Having just had a birthday, I've invested the cash I got on some squonking gear after doing some research. I got myself a COV Wraith and Pico squeeze with some (styled) rdas. I got a Firefly, Hadaly, Kryten, O-atty and a 24mm Tsunami. I already had a couple of mini Velocity which I still had the bf pins for.
Now, the Hadaly, Firefly and O-atty kick out some good flavour with 3mm id coils (still at 0.3 and 50w) but I have to keep the draws short to avoid tasting wick - no surprise because of the single coils at that wattage. The Velocity allows for a good long draw but is very muted in flavour. Which brings me to my first question: Is there a better way of coiling these small single-coil attys to suit the Pico's fixed wattage?
My next question involves the Wraith and the Kryten. I've got the Kryten loaded with the usual 0.3 ohm dual 3mm id at 50watts. Now the vapour production is great and with a fully saturated wick (dripped-on) the flavour is good too. The trouble is, that just relying on normal wicking from the deck, there's a nasty background taste. I've scrubbed the bloody thing several times and had it soaking in coke overnight, but I can't avoid this almost plasticky taste. I thought it might be from the Wraith's bottle, so I've given that a go over too. I've got the Velocity on it now, and there's nothing dodgy there, just the usual (although muted) flavour of the juice. I've had plenty of attys over the years that have arrived with plenty of machine oil on them, and this is different.
Any ideas?
