Yo folks I'm not sure if this has been covered before, I'm sure it has as this is POTV but I thought I'd share it anyway. After twisting my coils for a the past wee while I thought of an easier way, imo, to make coils especially for those who have hands like apes (get it ) or who just don't have the patience.
All you need is a drill and your preferred drill bit size to suit your coil.
1. Starting off line you kanthal and drill bit up like below, apologies for the blurry picture.
2. Keeping both side by side insert them into your drill and lock up the chuck good and tight. Give the kanthal a slight tug just to make sure it is indeed in place.
3. Holding your wire perpendicular about 2-3cm up from the jaws to allow some length for one of your legs begin to slowly turn the drill bit keeping a little bit of tension and making sure not to overlap you wire but keeping it as close together as possible.
(In my haste you can see that the bottom wrap is slightly off but it is easily fixed with a light pinch of the pliers.)
4. If you have kept enough tension in the wire and went slowly enough not to overlap your wires you should end up with something like this.
5. To finish up simply bring both legs around parallel with each other, leaving one longer than the other to make it easier getting them through the post holes and you're done.
Obviously if you'd taken your time at the start and got the first coil lined up better it would be much neater but once you get it in your mod and give it a pinch with tweezers it will sort it out.
I find this way much easier to make some pretty coils to compliment your mod and so I thought I'd share it.
Hope it helps someone who's having difficulty coiling
