Hi there was wondering if I could use an apple mains wall charger that states 5V 1A to charge my aegis x which states 5V 2A through the usb slot which came with a lead. I am using Sony VTC5A 18650 dual batteries. Or could I even use my PC usb2/3 slot? Cheers!

You could...

It's really not a good idea though, charging in the mod - especially with multiple cells - doesn't always end well.

Far better and safer to spend a tenner on a proper charger.

Thanks for the reply, been looking at the EFEST LUC V2 charger which has an option of 0.5A or 1A charging, would 0.5 or 1 be better? Wont be coming til next week so would it be ok to charge through usb just once?

agree. dual mods unless stateded in the user manual should use an external charger.
most mods with a usb slot are maily for updates.

I wouldn't charge any batteries in a mod as @pdg get yourself a charger like a nitcore or a Xtar and its not a good idea to buy from Ebay there are a lot of fakes so buy from someone like Fogstar or 18650uk are both trusted sellers.

Thanks for reply, starting to worry now since I was charging for about 5 mins before I read about it being bad. Hopefully 5 min charging through usb wont do much damage to the mod?

It's not damage to the mod directly that's the issue.

The main problem is that almost none of them are particularly good at balancing the charge across the cells.

Personally, I view it as an emergency option - if you need to charge it and there's literally no other way then it should be fine occasionally - just keep an eye on it.

Unplug and remove cells if it gets hot for example.

I've used the usb to charge the cells in my aegis legend a couple of times, but I'll not make a habit of it.

Charging at .5A will be slower, to charge than 1A. Apart from a slight increase in, overall, battery life using .5A. That's about the only difference.

I've used a USB charger to fully charge batteries in my X in emergencies.
