Firstly, hello all! I’ve been vaping a few years, never posted before - so I do apologise if this is in the wrong place.

I M2L vape with higher nicotine liquids, my tank of choice for a number of years has been the Nautilus series, had no issues until recently, when I swapped to nic salt liquids and the nautilus GT tank with the 1.8 ohm coils, which I’ve used since the Nautilus 2.

suddenly, the coils aren’t getting enough liquid, because within 2 days (max) im getting a burnt taste. I Close off the air and a few quick pulls and I see the bubbles, burnt taste is gone. When I dissect the coils I see the wire is mostly fine, but clear dry burn patches on the cotton.

I have tried the 1.8 Nic Salt BVC coils, I have the same problem with them (amazingly, and they have larger wicking holes!)

So does anyone have any advice? Here’s what I’ve tried so far...

- Closed the air hole a little, thinking a tighter draw will pull in more liquid.
- Swapped to nic salt coils
- dropped the wattage right down to the min (10w for the 1.8)
- bought my coils from different suppliers in case of a bad batch

I’m not sure if this is a coil issue or a Nautilus GT issue but it’s frustrating. I just want a decent vape!

Any advice is appreciated!

I think there have been some issues with some of the Nautilus GT tanks. Something about the coil not seated right and causing wicking issues. I think it was to do with the base section of the tank. Somebody on here did contact Aspire and get a replacement base sent out free of charge.

Are those working fine with freebase liquids?
(Just to discard it has nothing to do with the liquid)

There's a 25 page thread here.

https://www.planetofthevapes.co.uk/...th-to-lung/threads/aspire-nautilus-gt.191960/

People were having all sorts of issues it seems.

I don't have one sadly (or not sadly) but I have the GT mini and I've had no such issues.

Hi yes if you have the patience to read through this thread, you will see I had an issue with the Nautilus GT, where it wouldn't wick well, and burnt coils very quickly. The machining on the base was slightly off, where the coil sat a bit too low. I raised this issue with aspire and got a replacement on warranty. The coil sitting too low meant the pressure in the tank wasn't correct and it couldn't wick..

The top image is the faulty tank, the bottom image is the replacement I received. You should be able to see in the top image, the coil sits lower on the base. Aspire confirmed it shouldn't do that. Check yours to see if it is the same! I found a "fix" for the faulty one, unscrew the coil so it sits the same as the bottom picture and it should work better. Let us know how it goes!

I've just received my nautilus gt as I'd read online that it is one of the better mtl tanks. I've had issues with the innokin z coils in the past.
I'm running it on my innokin kroma z (with 510 adapter) with Dinner Lady Lemon Tart 50/50 20mg nic salts.
Primed the coil (0.7 mesh supplied) and filled the tank before setting aside to saturate for an hour...getting dry hits almost immediately and very little flavour!
Noticed bubbles when opening the filling cap... Could this be the same issue you had or could it be just a dud coil?

Either possibility is likely.
check your coil base sits level. Cautious coil qc isn't what it used to be. The old trick of roughing up the cotton in the coil window with a pin is worth a go and of course start the 0.7ohm coils at 12w and slowly raise to 18w (I wouldn't recommend higher).
But bubbling on opening the top definitely indicates a block in wicking.

Hi, what wattage did you use? When I use the 0.7 mesh I will start at 16 watts and rarely feel the need to go above 18. I'm not sure about the 20-25 watt rating for these coils, I've had them burn pretty quick at 25 watts. Make sure you start at maybe 16 and see how that goes? It's difficult to say whether you have the same issue I had, but even when it's wicking well, some bubbles will appear when I open the top cap. I would try another coil, try to salvage the juice and try it at a low wattage.

Edit: like eyeball kid said, start at 12
