at what voltage do you switch batteries in your mech mod?

i've only been using a mech mod for a month or so but since i've gotten the hang of rebuilding coils and getting the wicking right in my drippers it's pretty much taken over as my preferred method. i was worried that i'd end up over discharging batteries and killing them but now i start to notice the drop off at around 3.7v, it's like i've developed a weird sense. i just want to know how low you guys drain your batteries before changing them? is 3.7v about right or should i be using a lower resistance coil to be able to maintain the same vape and drain my battery more?

There is no advantage in draining the cells farther. At a lower resistance you'll just feel the drop at around the same point.

At 3.6-3.7V the cell is essentially flat anyway - yes you can get more out of it but why bother? You are then heading towards cell damaging territory (I like to keep mine above 3V) with maybe a dozen or so draws more.

I change at 3.5 to 3.6 volts without even thinking about it.

As soon as I notice a difference it's swapped lol still new to this too but when I check back home they are normally about 3.8/9 on both my 18500s & 18560. This dripper don't half drain um fast though lol I love it

cheers for the info everyone. i chucked a pair of vtc5's on my latest fasttech order last night, hopefully having 4 batteries will get me a full days vaping. i've dropped my nicotine levels down from 18mg to 7.2mg and i've pretty much had my mod strapped to my face ever since. it's freaky how spot on i've been when deciding to swap out the battery, the last 3 swaps i've checked with a multimeter and they've been 3.69 3.71 and then 3.70.

I have no idea what voltage I change my mech batteries at, and I have no immediate plans to ever bother, seeing as they only method I have, at the present time, to check is to remove the batteries and check with another device or multimeter. So much easier for me to just change the battery whenever I feel that expected performance has dropped and I have neither the inclination or curiosity to know at which voltage, this occurs. :P
It's great to have enough batteries to be able to change 'em whenever I fancy without trying to eek out as much as I can :P From my point of view, if you feel that you need to remove a battery to check the voltage, especially with mechanical mods, then that feeling to check, should be telling you to change it anyway.
If you do bother to check the voltage of a battery that you've just changed, and discover that the voltage is very low, what difference is that ever going to make? You've already used it at low voltage so checking it won't change history :D

Obviously, there is absolutely nothing negative about wishing to check your battery voltages, but I do feel, that when using mechanical mods, it is just as important to get a feel for when battery power is low as you are not always vaping in situations where multimeters or other devices are available.

i understand what you're saying, but i've only been checking as i swap the battery. it's nice to know that at the time of me noticing the drop off and thinking to myself that it's time to change the battery that i haven't over discharged it. and also that i'm not just being paranoid and changing it for no reason, i'm weird like that.

Indeed m0th, as good a way as any to get a feel for things.

I find in general that when the vape is lacking fullness, that's when i change 'em. It works out at about 3.6 - 3.7v for me but sometimes i've had a good vape right down to 3.5v. It's all good anyway & i think that the sony 18650 batts & the purple efest 18650 give good performance.

Good luck with the low nic thing too, i assume that after a little while your tolerance will adjust. I tried it myself a little while ago but had to jump back up to my 12mg, i have the intention of trying again sometime.

efest purples are what i'm currently using, i ordered the sonys as i was ordering a new mod (brass m16) and some other stuff
(atty v2 and a trident v2) from fasttech and they're only £11 a pair from there. i was vaping 18mg but i've gone down to 7.2 for the simple fact that 50ml of base will make me 500ml of juice, i'll half it again next 50ml bottle i buy and get 100 bottles from the one after and hopefully not buy any more nic after that. if i'm honest it's more the flavour that's making me vape constantly, i haven't really noticed the nic drop because it's coincided with moving from pro tanks/aerotanks on a regulated mod to dripping on a .5 ohm coil.
