hello all,

I picked up a Skynet Pro last month (AliExpress iirc), the flavour is v good with the Freemax double/triple mesh coils, but finding it a right hassle getting the bubble glass on without it leaking badly.
No problem with the straight glass, & the bubble one appears to be the same height & diameter at top/bottom.
I don’t think the issue is where the glass attaches to the top & bottom sections (o-rings look ok, snug fit), I think it’s where the coil screws in at either the base or top. Sometimes it leaks straight after filling (bottom thread issue?), but after a clean-up & reassemble it may be fine at first then leak again after spending a small amount of time non-upright (top coil thread issue?) ...so i’m thinking I’m cross-threading the coil somehow or the bubble glass is stopping the coil threading all the way in at both ends at once, or maybe the Freemax coils are not always a perfect fit?

Just wondered if anyone has had the same issue and has a good method to stop it?

@MrDJ i think I read you were rocking a couple of Skynet Pro’s with Freemax coils in an old thread, have you had any leaks from the bubble glass at all?

Cheers.

I have a couple of these and the only time I've had any kind of leak is when breaking in a new coil.

Thanks @Banjostring

the leaks i'm getting seem to be more than new coil run-in, when tilted it can be a proper slow drip-drip-drip until the tank is empty.
Are you using the Freemax coils mate?
Also, out of interest, how do you typically break-in a new coil? ...i tend to start around 20-25W and ramp up by 5W after 4-5 puffs, over 30mins or so, until i find a nice spot usually in the 40W-50W range ...does that sound about right or am i cutting corners and potentially causing coil/leak issues?

Hi mate.
nope not a single drop of a leak since i got it. i dont use it every day but its got 3/4 a tank full with the air hole open and ziltch leakage so soz but cant help much on this one :(

edit

your burn in is spot on and exactly what i do. start at 20w and up every couple of puffs until i reach the sweet spot of 60w.
what juice ratio are you using. i only use 70vg

Good to know its not known as a leaky bucket as when its working well its a damn fine flavour beast, i must be doing sumting stewpid ;)

I'm currently using mainly Prime Vapes; fruits & the new lemonades, so all 70vg 30pg i believe. Cracking juice and pains me to see it leaking away.
i think i'll look out some of my non-prime juice, some 70-30 bottle-shots should do nicely, pop the bubble back on, and see if i can crack it.

Glad my coil break-in sounds good, one possible cause to tick off the list.

One thing on final sweet-spot Wattage: after run-in i tend to run the Freemax Mesh Pro Doubles at a max of 40W-50W (usually 45W) as for me the flavour doesn't seem to improve much above that so figured i may as well spare the extra battery drain. The min recommended is 60W, so should i be looking at running closer to 60W do you think, for the sake of the coil or for an improvement in flavour over time?

ive actually read on here even though quite a while ago and not mesh coils of leaking when running at a lower wattage but as far as i can remember ive not had this even on 120w coils running at 60-70w and 90w coils at 50-60w
i run the twin at 50w
i agree though that flavour is still great at lower wattage and not drinking juice as quick.

Thanks @Banjostring

That's exactly how I break mine in too, I put the leakage down to the fact that I'm not vaporising the juice quickly enough, although like MrDj, once broken in I can leave a tank for ages with the airflow open and not a drop comes out.

Thank you for your input gents :2thumbsup:

I’ll give the bubble another go and see if anything changes.

Hi mate. I once got some bubble glasses for a Scion tank that looked right but they weren't. You could turn them easily after doing everything up and if you held the top without the bottom attached and wiggled it the glass would drop off easily. They were fakes, not originals but were sold to me as originals. Does the bubble feel it fits well with no movement after its all done up and sit snug on the seals?

Hi @Tazz
The bubble glass came with the tank inside the official box thingy, so it should be an original. Once assembled the glass itself is a good tight fit at top & bottom, doesn’t spin or rotate at all (even when giving it a good strong turn), & no evidence of leaking externally from either end. That’s why I’m thinking the leak is internal where the coil screws in, like if the bubble glass is a millimetre or two too tall & stopping the coil going in as far in as it needs.

I put it all together again last night and so far I’ve only had a couple of drips during new coil run-in, so maybe before I somehow cross-thread the coil or perhaps some debris was stopping it tightening properly.

If it keeps working well I’ll chalk it up to user error & move on :D

Thanks for your input mate.
