Sheesh I wound up in a local B&M store recently servered by some kid like 25 years my junior who looked like he'd been vaping maybe at most (and I'm being very generous) half the 10 years i have and he was talking absolute Bull Shatters when i asked him if any of the liquids he had on board were without artificial sweeteners (sucralose etc) which personally i find abhorrent in every guise.

Anyway Brains goes on to tel me that every flavour on the market has sweeteners and evern PG and VG and nicotine base liquid have sweeteners so it's all good to buy anything from his range of hideously sweetened shite.

Needless to say i put him polietely straight that as an 8yrs plus homebrew mixer i could tell the difference and that not all recipies were contaminated in such regard and that he was somewhat mistaken.

At which point he came over all confused looking so i purchased the emergency issue atomiser i had condecended to purchase from him and made for the exit.

I have to say this is not the first time i have encountered some kid talking Schizenhouzen and recommending i purchase some god forsaken item from their dusty shelf.

Whilst i hope B&M's are here for the long haul i do not enjoy echanging pleasantries with ill informed morons.

I just thought you'd like to know.

Cheers

MM

Ive not been in a b&m for over 5 years but in the last 3 years i have notice so many popup stores trying to make a quick buck off the vaping scene and im guessing none of them know anything about what they are selling. my high street must have at least 15 phone repair shops which now all have vape shop banners covering the original signs.
If i did have to go to one im not sure which i would go to as the only long term vape shop around my area is uk e cig store :)

I gave up on them years ago. Can't see myself ever going back to one.

I can say with certainty that there are liquids available that contain no sweetener, some liquids just don't need it. I have tried many liquids though that use sweetener to hide what is fundamentally a bad liquid. Sweetener, like Ice, is a good cover.

Certain flavours are of course sweeter than others. I reckon the guy in the store has got confused with VG as VG is sweet as standard, PG not so much. No reason at all though why you would add sweetener to straight PG or VG.

I never use them but my partner does as she only ever vapes two flavours, which a local shop sells. We often pop in when walking the dog, and I just stand there grinning when an assistant is telling someone about a particular item, which most of the time is completely wrong.

I don't normally go to b&m's either but popped in a few weeks back to see what RTAs they sell. Then was politely told that rebuilding is dying and so I should get a disposable instead. Ugh.

I'm fairly lucky as of the 5 shops in or close to the city centre 2 do have a reasonable selection of rebuildables and 2 of the other 3 stock separate mods and tanks as well as the standard stock coil or pod kits. But I did walk into the 5th one a few years ago and was looking through the display cases, he used to have a separate cabinet at the end with mechs, RDAs/RTAs, build kits, coils, cotton and batteries but when I got to the last cabinet and saw nothing I asked if he'd stopped selling them.

His answer was 'nobody builds these days, its all pods and salts now'. He was the owner, not a new assistant, and he's owned the shop for 5 years that I'm aware of, possibly longer.

I do buy salts from there occasionally as he does stock a wide range and he seems a decent enough guy. But every time I walk in there the word Twat springs into my mind.

I honestly think (and hope) that this pods and disposables phase calms down. At the end of the day, shops will sell what sells, and unfortunately that's disposables at the moment ‍♀️

We’ve recently moved out of Birmingham and out to Stourbridge a town in the Black Country. I have to say, having previously been an active supporter of B&M shops that the ones in the town here are useless.

I went in to town last week and tried both. The first had no nic shots (‘out of stock bud’) and seemed to seep CBD, 10ml bottles and disposables and pods. The second was staffed by a teen who clearly didn’t have a clue and seemed more interested in his phone than a potential new customer.

I have to say it was a bit of an, unpleasant, experience. Both in terms of what choice there is on the high street and also the image it gives about the industry. Unless I’m in Brum for work it looks like online only for me from now on.
