Can anyone advise on the merits of the following.

I had an old laptop and took the battery to bits with the intention of using the six individual batteries in my Vamo. So far I have used one all day with no issues.

Now here is my question.

With new batteries for laptops going for £14 on Amazon and with individual batteries for mods selling at £5 a time is it worth considering ripping a new battery apart and getting six brand new 18650 batteries for £2.50 each?

Laptop batteries tend to be of inferior quality, so they might be fine for putting in a regulated device (although not all of them) but are not going to be of much use in a mech mod as they just won't deliver the power needed and are therefore unsafe. Personally I would bite the bullet and pay for good batteries, the batteries that we use were never designed for home use so being as safe as you can be is the best idea.

Original batteries from top brand lap tops will be good quality ICRs, so only good for regulated mode < 15 W, but cheap laptop batteries - I just wouldn't bother and I would expect them to use cheap crap or recycled cells.

I use recycled samsung batteries in my regulated tin mod with no problems so far, but wouldn't even think about putting them in my mech, i have some vtc4's for that. Saying that i wouldn't recomend it tho.
