Hi all,

There was the second part to an investigation into smoking on TV last night that featured e cigarettes for the first half of the program.

Just wondering if anybody managed to catch it and what their thoughts were.

I thought overall it was a positive thumbs up for us vapors & Vendors..... but would like to hear what you guys thought ?

Watching it right now on Iplayer. I think the show certainly highlights the fact that less people will die if people switch from cigs to vaping, but I think the focus on less advanced countries is flawed. It's unrealistic to think that countries that are going through the same industrial revolution we went through 150 years ago are going to behave any differently than we did back then.

Twoca it was called burning desire the seduction of smoking which sounds like an adult film to me but should be able to find on iplayer now :)

I didn't feel it advanced the case for vaping/ecigs at all. It conflated two issues; big tobacco's merciless exploitation of the uneducated (Taylor's old hobby horse) and BAT's current foray into the ecig business (where he admitted he was rather ignorant).

I thought Taylor's two program's were excellent on traditional tobacco issues but ecigs should have warranted a lot more research. Several questions were never pressed. For example, if BAT are confident that the global tobacco market will be going strong for decades yet, why are they researching ecigs and lobbying for their regulation? Tobacco harm reduction? Really? Revenue protection more like.

I'm amazed there hasn't yet been an in depth documentary on ecigs/vaping in the UK yet (tell me if I'm wrong). I've seen several superficial mentions in news programs but nothing heavyweight. I may have to write to Channel 4 News.
