Hi people im plannin on doing a unregulated parallel 18650 box (my 1st build!) and wanted some more experienced peoples ideas on this cable ive found on ebay.

It is PTFE/teflon insulated with 19 strands of 0.45mm silver plated copper wire (12AWG), or I may even go for the 10AWG!

He has more than just black and red as well! This should keep volt drop down shouldn't it? And also be fine for amp load even if I go for a triple parallel?
Cheers for any help or advice!

I would think that is a little bit over the top. 2.5mm wire should be fine for nearly any build and even the 2.5 is a bitch to solder to your fittings. I make the wire you reference to be 10mm2 and that would be useful if building into kW!
1.5mm wire should realistically be fine for your build assuming short runs. The majority of your volt drop will come from the batteries and not the wire, if you want minimum volt drop you will want a LiPo power pack.

Hope that helps

What he said.

If you want to burn out your soldering irons, use that. I killed 3 irons and I was only using 14 AWG, though if your still getting voltage drop at high currents, use some of the twin+earth cables. It's pure copper, bitch to solder but on my lipo powered box is producing a 0.2V drop even down at 0.1 ohm builds.

My electric solder irons couldn't handle 14g let alone 12 or 10, I had to crack out the butane iron to get the job done on my last mod.

Did u melt anything when soldering with he gas torch? I was looking in2 using silver solder as well but from wot ive found online it is only poss with gas torch and not an iron. Not 2 sure bout soldering onto a mosfet with a gas torch!

I never knew that lippo packs hav less volt drop, thanks people!

I think he was talking about using a gas soldering iron rather than a gas torch. I have used gas torch but only on brass parts, I wouldn't go near a MOSFET or similar with one.

Yep, LiPo's are genuinely stunning compared to our standard round batteries. Get a high spec pack(30c+) and you will never look back. My twin 18650 can be showing 1v drop whilst same build on 3000mah LiPo pack is showing 0.2-0.3 drop!

Oooh, sounds good! If I hav lipo batts in my box mod would I then hav 2 hav usb on board charging with it?

You don't have to if you make it removable.

I use usb chargers on my 4v boxes, but for my 8v box I have removable battery and 5A LiPo charger.

I guess its not 2 hard 2 fit the charging board in a box mod, I fink ill do that as ive just got a new nitecore digital charger.

1.5mm will do the trick. The insulation is what !makes it hard to bend about so if you need to bend it a bit, silicone insulation is better, if it's straighter, you can get away with PVC insulation. Personally, I like the silicone better.
