Boge Revolution V2 Review
This is the older version with the 700 mah battery (later one - V2.1 - has a 1400 mah one)
Bought from:
http://www.misteliquid.co.uk
Cost £19.99 plus P&P
Introduction
I bought this because I want something durable for work and it has a reputation for that - £20 was too good an offer to refuse.
My logic says that 24 mg juice, bottom fed, may give the flavour and nicotine to get and keep me off the analogues at work. That is my downfall. So….
“In the box”
In two nicely printed boxes
5 x 510 black Boge cartomizers
1 x USB cable
1 x Instruction manual
1 x Spare syringe needle
1 x 700mAh Boge Revolution, in cellophane, sitting in its own tray inset.
1 x lanyard, good quality, with detaching clip, attached to the Boge
1 x 510 socket metal blanking plug; what a good idea
1 x e liquid bottle, needle attached, inside the Boge
The box is sturdy compressed card, silver and black, well printed with some contentious stuff inside the lid and a magnetic closure. It is a very good quality piece of gift packaging
Quality packaging
“Outside the box”
1 x 3pin UK USB plug and charger with bottom slot, decent enough quality..
What you get - a lot for £19.99
In summary, a very good package, very well presented – just add eliquid.
Features:
-10ml E- liquid Juice feed
10 ml is big – bigger than the battery could vape in one go – though see below. It’s handy and means less filling up
-Fully compatible with most 510 connections (atomizers, cartomizers, dual coils)
Well whuppedy do. And so it should be, except, it’s got a reputation for being finniky about what you use on it – the tight protruding drip well shoulder sees to that. It works with Boge cartomizers, it works with the bottom feeding atomizers I got from Vapourhut. It won’t work with the EM Joye Riva atomizers I have – that shoulder prevents the Joyes from making contact.
-Use and charge at the same time with a built in passthrough system
Now this is great, a real add value feature, which would have been even better if it was on the side of the unit so you could stand it up whilst charging or on pass through. Handy though and a genuine big plus.
-ON/OFF switch
Everything should have one of these. This does
-Anion LED display
Alternatively, how to look a complete pillock or a huge Star Trek fan en-route to a convention – it flashes like it’s detected Klingons on the starboard bow.
When you switch this on, it’s supposed to provide a charge to to combat radiation emitted by computers. Really? Yes. There’s an astro dome shaped clear plastic bubble on the top with a hole in it. Inside is a ring of different coloured little LEDs which light up in turn when the anabolic thing is emitting its steroids. How could I possibly have lived without this? A lot easier, possibly, than the designer might survive without a supply of LSD .
Anion photon torpedo launcher Mr Scott?
This anabolic digester thingie and its mini Blackpool illumination was omitted from later versions; draw your own conclusions, it’s staying switched off on mine.
-Handy mini-USB charge point
USB charge point is pretty useful for an integrated battery and – it’s compatible with latest type mobiles. It’s in the wrong place, but it also lets you use the device like a pass-through whilst charging, so I won’t complain too much.
-Built in polymer Li-ion 700mAh battery
The 1400 mah would have been better (V2.1). 700 mah is about as much vaping as a 650 Ego, plus a bit. But the handy (for office work) USB charge /.pass-through.charge point provides. Useful.
-3 x LED battery life indicator
Yup and they work fine. When charging they show battery state and in use, show it when the nice chunky fire button is pressed. Simple and logical, though sometimes light from one bulb shines through to the others – you need to hold it at the right angle to get a correct display.
-Compartment for atomiser/cartomiser
The slide on clip cover worries me because I could lose it, it’s also fiddly.
The cartomizer / atomizer hole really annoyed me – it is about 1 -2 ml too short to take any of my atomizers combined with any of my drip tips. This is a shame as it looks sealed and will also accommodate the 510 socket blanking plug when the atomizer’s in use.
It’s a shame they didn’t pay more attention to this. It’s a shame this hasn’t got a hinged door. The slide on the bottle compartment is fine – refilling the bottle isn’t going to be necessary every day. A decent secured lid and a slightly deeper recess could have been a huge, practical plus - the ideal solution for vapers working in dusty or grimy environments. Anyone know of some short slim drip tips?
-Removable hand lanyard
And a decent quality one too.
-Ergonomic design, with a non-slip rubberised finish.
The finish is good, wipe clean and that comfortable rubberised coating you get on some cameras and Ego batteries: useful for oily work hands. Ergonomic? Yes, clearly some thought went in here and by someone other than anabolic light show person. It is comfortable and easy to use., fire button is well placed, positive and comfortable and you can squonch without changing your grip.
Alpha Romeo Sierra Echo to control…
This looks like – with the Star Trek feature out of use – an emergency services Short Wave radio. The black cartomizers supplied enhance that look – like stub aerials.
It feels substantial in a plasticky way – light but solid; the protruding narrow drip well protects the 510 connector. There are comfortable flanges around the sqounch hole and recessed on-off switch. The fire button is partly protected by a ring. I’d have some confidence it would survive a drop onto concrete better than most devices.
Fire button, power remaining lights
and on the r.h. side, power switch.
This has lots of gentle curves everywhere – ironically these make it look even more like a police radio. The prevalence of that tough plastic and rubberized finish everywhere… a stealth vaper for an SAS man with big hands?
Leaving the anabolic steroid photon torpedo launcher out of things, this looks OK, if a little butch, in a Mr Plod sort of way.

The Juice Bottle
The juice bottle goes in fine, through the door in the bottom with a taper internally to guide the needle up through the 510 connector. Easy.
Getting it out though might be a mega hassle, if you’re a bloke with short finger nails and diminutive brain. I found that taking the atomizer off and giving a sharp tap to the top, with a shake, had no effect. Then I engaged my brain, grabbed the bottle between thumb and finger at the squonching hole and pushed down - there was enough of the bottle sticking out the bottom to grab: easy again.
Easy, and ,10ml is a lot of juice. In fact if you have USB charging, this stacks up really well as a work device – fill it Sunday night, bring it home Friday night.
Juice feeding
This takes some getting used to. My other 2 bottom feeders have a tube in the bottle, which feeds juice from its bottom. For some reason, Boge decided to omit this ( the cost of the anabolic digester light show maybe?). Which means you have to invert the device whilst squeezing the feed bottle.
This is not as difficult as it sounds, a twist of the wrist. After a little use, you get used to doing this. But it feels and looks odd and there’s always the risk, direct dripping, that if you overdo it, you’ll have eliquid in the mouth of your drip tip
if you’re using an atomizer. I found it best to squonch with the fire button on and the device inverted - when fireworks of vapour come out of the drip tip (a) you know the atomizer’s been fed (b) this extraneous juice is getting vapourized, not left for one’s delicate lips..
I prefer the more proven and standard tube feed on my Old Goat and Phideas bottom feeders. The Boge requires a bigger squeeze than either of these and has more of a ‘learning curve’ – not difficult though.
Use
It’s a nice vape – with the benefit of the USB anyone in an office or car can charge and/or vape – so for this scenario, it’s a great buy. It would be a bit more stealthish if (a) it was smaller (b) it wasn’t necessary to invert it to juice feed.
This is a fixed voltage device, so choose your cartomizers or atomizers with care. So what does it vape like? A bottom feeder, So that’s direct dripping without the hassle and great flavour.
A Real bargain – complete solution, in your hand £28.99
This launched around April last year – so whilst superseded is hardly ancient.
Forget the Anion thing. Look at the package – it’s a just add juice solution and for £20 – bargain. Deduct the value of the extras and the device is costing you a tennerish – Ego battery land.
Add £3 for P&P and buy 4 x 5ml bottles of juice from the same vendor ( http://www.misteliquid.co.uk ) and for less than £30 you have, delivered to your door, a great start to real vaping – for a bloke J.
