Breaking in

Is a burning taste to be expected on all new builds? Is there a 'break in' period?

400 SS mesh
0.25 Kanthal, 2.7 ohms, 4 watts.
Squid ink.

Ive been trying for a week to get a setup which doesnt taste like crap. Nightmare of a time.

2.7 seems a bit high mate,try again,try getting it down to at least 1.5ohms,im guessing your using a genny and a vv mod,burning taste is prob down to hot spots on the coil,eliminate them and make sure your wick is nice and wet,you should be good to go.

Yes this will also bring the res down.if you bring the res down too low the itaste wont fire,they have a cutoff below a certain ohms.

No is the short answer. Yes of the wicking material is crap. Pre made ones that come with/in things are a bit minging..
But no. You should not get bad flavour from the start.
