So I placed my first order for Kraken Red Lady, Squid Ink and Minion Farts. Order arrived, into the dripper, YUM!

Time to fill up a tank. At the moment I'm using a VIVI tank (I have a few as they fit my mod perfectly). Anyway, recoiled all 4 tanks, re wicked with cotton wool, filled em up and they were good for around 10 minutes, now they all taste burnt! Not sure what has happened.

I emptied one out and filled with red astaire and it's fine. 4 hours later and still going strong so... Is it the juice or the set up or a mix of both?!

I'm using a cool fire 1 (think this is set 8.5w) with vivi tanks which I recoiled using .2 kanthal, organic cotton wool, around 5 wraps all coming out at c2.2ohms.

Any help would be appreciated - I'm stumped!

I think it could be a bit of both really as the tjuice is premix is 80pg/20vg whereas kraken is 60pg/40vg. I find anything over 7w tends to taste burn on coils prebuilt or redone myself at the 2.2 ohm mark, try lowering the wattage and see how that goes. I mostly vape 50/50 on kayfuns around 1.2 ohm on mechs. Hopefully that is of some help. ;)

Thanks. Unfortunately the 8.5 watts is set / regulated on the cool fire1. So should I try rebuilding at a lower ohm?

Thanks again.

sorry my bad i read that wrong thought it was the coolfire 2. I would try higher ohm on a single coil try 2.5 -3 ohm at that wattage

don't have coolfire 1 but if wattage is fixed, then surely changing coil resistance will make no diff. ?
It will up the volts to suit.
Are you sure it's fixed wattage ?
Edit that, it is fixed wattage

You would need a higher ohm to compensate for the higher wattage, I constantly run 1.8 in all tanks apart from the 1.5 dual in the PT3 anything over 7W burns the 1.8 coils, depending on juice a higher VG content may help if you don't want to go higher on the coil,

Out of interest why is the cool fire fixed at 8.5 ? Is there no option to change voltage ?

Think your missing the point
Fixed wattage means you get 8.5w
No matter the coil resistance
Until you hit the boost
Limit then you (probably) get battery voltage

Nope not at all, a higher ohm coil won't burn as much regardless of a fixed 8.5w or a variable.

Innokin suggest a resistance of around 2.1 but obviously this will also be dependent on the juice in the tank.

Being fixed does kind of limit what you can do though. Kind of makes you wonder why they done it when a spinner would give more range.
