I'm using a multimeter to check the resistances of my built coils. It has no calibrate option. When I touch the leads together it read 0.5ohms does this mean I need to subtract 0.5 ohms from any resistance reading I take?

I'm asking because I'm trying to get an exact 1ohm reading on micro coils and do want to accidentally do a .5ohm coil and risk sub ohming because I'm not very experienced with rebuildables yet.

Hey :)
Yes you will need to subtract the resistance of your multimeter's leads, every time you make a coil.

+ 1 to what he said :)

My multimeter has no calibrate option either & touching the leads together results in a 1.2 ohm reading,I now have a Vamo which I used to check a coil that'd tried to melt my home-built variable voltage battery box and discovered the coil was actually under 1 ohm and trying to obtain 6 amps current from a battery that only has a 4-5 amp capability.

this would explain my crazy battery drain. My battery in't really made for sub ohm, it's a crap battery. And without reslising I was vaping at .4 ish...

I would recommend buying better batteries whether you sub ohm or not, last thing you want is it overheating and simulating a pipe bomb in your hand!
