Can nicotine protect the aging brain?

I wonder wether this has been known for sometime. It would help explain why we have crap like the tpd etc, Big pharma doesn't want people to find ways to prevent themselves from needing drugs that big pharma makes now do they.

I have heard of this a while ago, nicotine may be beneficial to those with certain forms of dementia, and if true, it should be encouraged like any other treatment would be, in the safest to ingest form.
Wether this be through a vapouriser, or a tablet, if it can help people with this awful disease it should be promoted. I worked as a carer for a good while and it is a awful illness to have, that leaves a person unable to communicate in any way, or even move in later stages- all they can do is take a drink through a straw that you give them, and be spoon fed meals.
As dementia is getting more common, anything that helps against it is good in my eye.
