Do we know what causes a juice to taste 'chemically'? Is it poor mixing methods, a lack of steeping?

It's something I'd like to avoid if I can ever get these concentrates from LeL ;)

Could be anything. Nickel coils from certain places have been known to taste 'chemically'. Also not washing a brand new atty can cause that.

In regards to juice, I'm not sure. I believe Chegs mixes alot of his own stuff so maybe he can help there.

I can't find the thread now but I saved this that VaperCaper once replied to this question:

' There are 2 main reasons for 'floral/chemical tasting liquid'

the short version of both goes like this:

i) shite liquid
ii) not steeped enough yet

the slightly longer version is:

i) different flavours react together in different ways. Some flavours complement and accentuate each other, some flavours cancel each other out. Because flavourings are different to natural flavours things that you think ought to go together often don't. Also too much of a flavour can also cause a 'cancelling out' kind of effect where your tastebuds taste too much of a specific flavour and get 'tired' and then stop tasting that specific flavour again. sometimes the cancelling out effect can leave a part of the intended favour behind which by itself tastes chemically or perfumy.

ii) Sometimes flavours that clash will mellow out with time. Some flavours will taste bad when frehsly mixed, but as the liquid ages the nicotine reacts with the flavours in the liquid and smooths off the rough edges and alters the flavours enough so that they complement and mix nicely rather than cancel or clash and mix badly.

If you get liquid that's not good. Leave it to steep for a couple of weeks. If after that time it still tastes bad, it's most likely just not very good.

Taste is really subjective too, so what tastes fabulous to one person can taste awful to another.'

In a thread recently was a link to a site that appeared to show the breakdown of the majority of main ingredients that are used to create the artificial flavourings in concentrates.I'll see if I can find it again(think Diche was the instigator of the thread, looking for "somewhat left-field" flavours)

Please don't shout if I'm talking bollox, but my solitary working brain cell seems to recall that there weren't all that many chemicals used to create lots of different tastes.

Often, the reason a juice tastes "chemically" is because too high a percentage of chemicals were added.Simplez :P

chemical taste

i got this on my first DIY batch using Inawera, after 2 weeks of steeping the chemical taste dissapeared. Also i was using too high flavour % which could have been a factor. I was worried that it was the quality of my bases but... phew!
