Does it need cleaning, if so how and how often?

Easy to clean unscrew the coil section remove the little rubber nipple, now wash under a tap until the wicks are white again. Let it dry out you can then pulse it and blow on it till the coils are glowing you will still have some colouring around the coil area but its nothing that will affect the flavour.

I dry mine out on a radiator over night then do a dry burn.

Put it all back together and your good to go.

Is this done while the wick is still in?

Remove the wick section but don't pull on the wicks. There is a video somewhere but Im on my phone so can't post or find a link

Honest bud it's straight forward. Strip it down into its component parts. You will have the coil section that unscrews with a little rubber nipple left on top. Remove nipple and rinse under a tap until wicks are clear of juice. Place on radiator over night to dry. Then screw only this section back onto base section and pulse the coil till it glows that will remove any remaining moisture and deposits from the coils. Wait for it to cool down then put nipple on and assemble it fully. Add juice and your good to go.
