Consequences of using a battery with broken shell

I noticed, that my battery has a nick on it, exposing the metal from the side. Unfortunately, I have been using it in a Swag II mod for a long time.

I will rewrap it, but am curious, could the broken battery have done any permanent damage to the mod? The mod has started to randomly lose power and after taking the battery out and putting it back in, it vapes fine again.

The mod's battery compartment is non-conductive from the sides.

My Swag II mod randomly loses power, without any errors etc. When firing, it seems that the mod doesn't doesn't use enough power to vaporize the liquid. When taking the battery out and putting it back in, it works fine again.

Any ideas?

Try another battery & if the fault persists it's the mod. If not the battery is likely at fault & should be replaced.

Check the threads of the screw on battery cap (on the mod and inside the battery cap are clean), also make sure the battery contact areas inside the battery cap and inside the bottom of the mod are clean (use a pencil with an eraser top or similar to reach inside the mod. Any gunge in these areas can badly affect the conductivity and cause problems.
