Just thought I would share a warning about the 'Customer Service' I received from Date Vape UK.

I month or so back I decided to invest in a Tesla Nano Mod (the steampunk version) and for the first couple of weeks, all was A-OK.

After this period, I noticed that the fire button did not seem to be functioning as expected (sometimes it failed to register that it was being pressed) and also, when re-coiling the tank (Squape X), upon pressing the fire button the first time, the mod seemed to either not register what resistance the coil was or possibly keep firing as the coil would glow bright read in a second or so, then would burn out and snap.

This did not happen occasionally, it happened each and every time I recoiled the tank and was using that Mod (same thing does not happen when re-coiling on my other mods).

So, I did what any purchaser would do, I contacted the retailer to explain my issues and explained everything in detail.

First response back - "Oh, never heard of that before, I don't know what to suggest".

So I said, it's clearly developed a fault and what options do I have for getting a replacement.

Response back was "Erm...well, you will need to deal with the manufacturer as you should have registered the device & warranty with them when you purchased it".

I then checked on the Tesla site and there is no option to register a device, only the option to check if the product is genuine via the scratch sticker (it is a genuine product by the way).

I told him this and all he said was "it's something you have to sort out with the manufacturer, have you tried contacting customer service?"

I did contact customer service, despite the fact the product was < 1 month old and it should be sorted out by the seller really, but so far, I have had no response to 5 or 6 emails I have sent them.

Now, the guy from Date Vape is not replying to emails either.

So, just a word of warning guys, if you can avoid buying anything from this seller as if anything goes wrong with your purchase, you won't be getting any support from them!

I'd suggest another strongly worded email suggesting you will be taking it up with the relevant consumer body, and reminding him of the fact they're obliged under consumer law to sort this out for you.

The 'deal with the manufacturer' is a classic fudge that retailers have used for years. Fortunately it's been mostly stamped out. It is the retailer that's responsible for resolving this for you, NOT the manufacturer! Your sale contract is with Date Vape not Tesla. :)

Oh and make sure you point out you have a written record of him telling you you have to deal with the manufacturer, which is against consumer law...

I don't know how people think they can get away with this ... Imagine walking into Currys with a dodgy TV after a couple of weeks and them saying "nothing to do with me, you'll have to sort it out with Panasonic" ... you'd go apeshit and rightly so. There's no difference here, stand your ground and don't let it wash. The time for 'asking politely' as passed.

... also negative publicity is really bad for business so hopefully they'll see this and do the right thing .... if not, twitter, facebook etc etc is your friend.

Just by you posting this they've probably already lost more than what the mod cost. ... or maybe they are too stupid to see that?

Funny thing is, currys (pc world group) were the most notorious purveyors of this bollocks. That's exactly what they used to do!

lol, bad example then maybe ...... but you get my drift, I think we feel easier standing our ground in big shops (well I do anyway) because generally the staff aren't paid much and they can't be bothered to argue with you, when it's the shop owner of a small shop I always feel it's a little more difficult..... maybe?

When I was at uni I worked in Woolworths on the 'entertainment' counter as we didn't even ask any questions, you just refunded because at the end of the day you didn't want the hassle and you didn't want to have to go and get the manager. :) ...... but they did go bust I guess. :D

The fire button losing clickiness is a bad feature of those Tesla mods ... I assume it's the Nano 100W? I had two in the plain finish but never had the other issue you report.
In your shoes, I would get my money back from Date Vape UK ... product not fit for purpose. Check the T&Cs of sale, you might have to pay for returning it.
Good luck.
