talk about embarrassment - anyone else had something like this?

i'd cleaned my walls, telly everything in my little office where i used to smoke.

took me days and days to get it clean.

i'd blown my power supply up on my puter with a passthrough i'd bought and dragged out my old spare.

it's black and was kept under the stairs and as I plugged it in I could actually feel the sticky on my hands from the old tar built up on it.

got a bucket of hot water and washing up liquid and washed it 3 times and it was still coming off brown - yuck. eventually got the worst of it off with "cif" (jif) and I can smell lemons now at last lol.

i used to smell like that

I never smoked indoors purely because of this. It clings to everything and stinks. When I first moved into this house, it was a mutual exchange, the previous tenants smoked indoors and it took me ages to wash all the walls, windows, doors etc of nicotine staining. The colour of the water in the bucket was absolutely gross.

Ah, never smoked in the house, not allowed as my father has Pulmonary Fibrosis. But now I can sit in the same room and vape and his response varies between "It's not that bloody Troll snot is it?" & "I Like the smell of that one"...

I recall helping a mate redecorate his Grans pub when I was still a teenager, the wallpaper was so ingrained with smoking crud that the pattern/colours were gone & the plaster beneath was also sticky with a dark brown crud. After an hour of stripping paper,I had a nicotine headache (didn't know such things existed) which meant that going outside to clear my headache,I decided to have a cigarette & it near killed my head the throbbing off each draw.More recently,I used to strip & clean-out my previous PC every few months, oil all the fans(it had 17 in it trying to keep it cool)and sit with a tub of engine degreaser and a paintbrush washing the heatsinks.I last did this 1 a couple of weeks before quitting smoking completely & had the side off to fit another graphics card last week,& remarked to the GF about the missing shite within.

Yup been there it gets everywhere I noticed when I went to decorate I thought my ceiling was white but as I rolled the new paint I noticed the difference omg it was brown

Been a smoking ban in our house for the last 18 years, when the eldest was born. That was put in place by myself and rigorously enforced.
Me shed in the garden, where we all go/went when it's raining is another matter.

I'd not smoked inside for years and years, but what I have noticed since giving up the stinkies is that clothes that don't get washed every time I wear them (coats, woolly jumpers, formal dresses, that kind of thing) still absolutely REEK of stale smoke. Even my wedding dress :-( And when I'm standing behind a smoker in a queue or suchlike, the smell of stale smoke on their hair/clothes is really noticeable. Funnily enough, I still find the smell of fresh tobacco smoke in the air quite appealing.

The smell of cigs is very chemical and artificial, the smell of pipe smoke though can be nice...( I smoked pipes quite a lot AND cigs, but preferred pipes for a more flavoursome smoke)...

Being in a car with a smoker is awful. Always did hate it but hate it even more now I don't smoke myself because every inch of me stinks afterwards.
When I did still smoke and we could all still smoke in pubs, I would shower before getting into bed at the end of the evening just to wash the stench off. Nothing worse than waking up to a face full of stinking pillow from last night's stale fag smoke in your hair.
