Dripping / refilling cartomiser too often

Hi all

I started on nicolites. I have ordered an Ego starter kit but in the meantime I am dripping some of vapercaper's lovely (and I mean it - -the Nuclear Plusion falvour is awesome) eliquids into the 3 cartomisers that came with the nicolite starter kit.

I think something may be wrong - When I drip liquid in (I can't measure it but it is until the sponge looks saturated) I get a lovely hit for a while -maybe an hour or so - but it quickly runs out - first it gets 'burny' or harsh and then it just does very little. I am refilling at least twice every day and am concerned about the money I will be spending on liquid at this rate.

So 2 questions:
1. am I putting in too little?
2. How long should a refilled carto last (average smoker use)?

I guess it doesn't help that I chucked away all the little rubber caps.

I tried dripping juice into my old cigalike cartridges when I started making my own juice and got nothing useful from them at all.

Not knowing how much you're putting in, it's hard to say whether it's an excessive amount for an hour.

I seem to use less nicotine now I'm part vaping/part smoking (combined I'm getting about 8-9 cigs' worth of nic, compared to previously smoking 17-20 per day) and I use about 1ml of juice per day. Without smoking and if I were free to vape continually as I wanted, I imagine I could get through 2ml. Others do use more than this, though.

If you shop around, you can pick up juice for about £3.50 per 10ml, but if you make your own, it costs less than £1 per bottle (if you invest in decent bulk quantities to start with), so a couple of ml per day would be costing no more than 20p

Thanks - good reply. Not up for making my own at the moment - will look for 100ml bottles for economy, but Nuclear PLusion is so good and it only comes in 10ml. :(

If it lasts a week I guess a fiver a week is not too much compared to smoking.

Bargainvapour is pretty reasonable for cheap and cheerful juice. About 13 quid for 10mls

I used to us a syringe at the side of padding and slowly fill making sure you give time for juice to soak and normally put in just over a ml,

I'm presuming you mean your refilling old catomisers, me too, with vapestick, are you pulling off the cap so you can see the sponge?
I tend to drip it in, but every now and again, tip the catomiser upside down to see if any runs out, I find that sponge can hold a lot more than we think it will, so maybe your not filling it enough,
also remember if its the type of catomiser that has the built in burner, then they are a chuck away item, so dont last forever, I still get a new pack of 4 every fortnight, and re fill each cap 3 or 4 times before throwing away

A refilled carto should last about a day though it depends on how high resistance the carto is, how much filler is in the carto, how well you fill it, and what power level you are vaping at.

A carto should hold around 1ml of e-liquid properly filled and if your vap gets 'weak' then this is a sign that it needs topping up.

If you drip liquid in till it looks saturated, then wait 5 mins, and repeat, then wait 5 mins and repeat, then it should be filled up better. It sounds like you're not quite filling it as much as you could.

Dexter wrote a good How-To thread here and here is a PBusardo vid outlining how to fill empty cartos

Cartos are disposable and when they taste burnt then throw them away. You should get about 2 weeks of life on average froma carto provided you keep it topped up and don't burn it, some last longer some last a lot less.

An average vaper will get through 2-3ml or so of e-liquid a day (formerly a 20-a-day smoker) If you're into the novelty phase and chain vaping then expect to use maybe twice that. A 10ml bottle ought to last about 2-3 days or so.
