A town where the average age smoker starts aged NINE has had its football ground controversially renamed after an e-cigarette brand. Non-league Merthyr Town's 106-year-old Penydarren Park will become the Cigg-e Stadium under a three-year deal. But health campaigners warn the sponsorship may encourage kids to smoke. Martin Dockrell of ASH, said: 'There are more effective ways of quitting than e-cigs.' And fans are fuming too. Liz Thomas, 50, said: 'We will be the butt of everyones jokes.' The Welsh club formed three years ago when Merthyr Tydfill FC went bust. A spokesman said the deal, thought to be for £60,000, will aid the club's 'long term stability'. By Rhodri Phillips. The Sun.
