Hi folks,

I quit smoking on Feb 1st this year and have a Vamo V5 that has just packed up, a MK2 Lavatube that is beaten up but still going strong and a Nemesis clone. I have been building my own coils for a while and using cotton wool for a wick due to its ease of changing. I have 2x RBA's - one a genuine Svoemestro Kayfun Lite and the other a clone Kayfun 3.1. I can't say I prefer one over the other - the Lite has a slightly lighter/airier draw but leaks more than the clone!

Given my Vamo V5 has packed in and was my main device I'm looking to replace it with a variable voltage device but don't know which one. I quite fancy trying a box mod because I find the Vamo V5 too long - it's not very pocket friendly and ideally I would like something that shows batterly life left too. Variable voltage capability is a must and my Nemesis clone hardly gets used because I don't like being stuck at one voltage! I like to fine tune my vaping and as the battery starts to run down I can dial up the power to keep the flavour consistent.

I'm leaning towards a Sigelei 50W or 100W box mod - I gather there's an improved version of the 100W due imminently with a sprung terminal - any suggestions for what you'd buy would be gratefully received - budget up to £100 ish for the mod. Am I right that the Kayfun's are still amongst the best RBA's or is there something else I should consider upgrading to?

Thanks,

For the last 5-6 weeks I've been using a Hana Clone (DNA30 Chip) & I've been really happy with that. I've pretty much been using a Mutation X RDA for about the same time on top of it too but I had really nice results from my Fogger V4.0 (but I have misplaced that & my KayFun Clone was AWFUL!)

I'm looking into a heavy wattage boxmod myself though...

kayfuns are good but its a preferance just like other attys. If you get a 50 wat mod plus you will use so little on the kayfun. I would pick up a clone orchid 4 as you can get to 40 plus watts. that will give you box mod something to power. Right now I am using an erlkonigin wjich I can take to 30 watts. none are the best but they all have their pros and cons. Without modding my kayfuns are seriously underused as I like an airy draw. New kayfun is coming out soon so if you want another best wait.

Thanks guys - some interesting suggestions here and a whole bunch of expensive toys I'd never heard of!! I've just been looking at some sub Ohm info and to be honest it has put me off (mainly the nasty chemicals side of it rather than the battery explosion risk because I always use IMR or Efest batteries). I'm mainly attracted to the form factor of a box mod rather than its ability to smoke at very low resistance. For the info that put me off see: ECF Sub-Ohm Advisory

I'd be interested on everyone's take on that article...

Interesting article. Does make you think. Seems the battery problems are with mech mods, regulated mods wouldn't let anything bad happen? The vaping at sub ohm and those chemicals puts me off doing sub ohm. As I only use regulated then it's just a case of upping the wattage. Then again having high watts on a 1.5ohm - 2ohm build, is that bad too? It still gets hot after all, and if heat is the problem then what watts should we be vaping at.

A 0.1 ohm build will produce only 42 watts from a fully charged mech, so there are many regulated mods that will beat that quite easily with builds of any resistance. It's just a matter of finding your preferred vaping style.

Regarding atomisers, if the op is happy with the draw from a Kayfun, the best upgrade would be to a Rose.

42 is the amps figure, wattage would be 176!

I knew something was wrong but I was distracted and couldn't concentrate. I think I'll stay out of these threads till these calculations become second nature.

Actually I would rather like to find something that:

Leaks less than a Kayfun
Has an easier/airier draw than a kayfun so all recommendations are gratefully received - I will take a look into the Rose.

What about the box mod - is the Sigelei a good option?

in that case i would recommend a eleaf lemo. Got listed on fasttech yesterday, has a really airy draw and like a kayfun.
