Does anybody use this concentrate? I’ve had a 10ml bottle of it for years and hadn’t been impressed when I mixed a tester.

But it seems I was wrong about it. I’ve dug it out again a few weeks ago and put 2% with a few drops of FA latakia and perique, and something else I can’t remember now. And it’s really good. It’s a bit dry, I’m not sure if that might be the influence of the FA tobaccos, but what it reminds me of is the taste of the dried bits of maple syrup you get crusted on the opening of the bottle. It’s not crazy sweet. More maple than syrup, if that makes sense.

I'ver got a bottle of it @zouzounaki I'm trying it out in a recipe I'm working on at the moment. I'll give you a shout when it's ready and I post it up here.

I've had a play with this a couple of times now.

Find a very powerful maple note but no sweetness to it. It's an odd one and can easily overpower any other subtle flavours.

It’s ok

tends to needed to be used with other things imo to give an accent.

It is heavy in cyclotenes which if used to high can be a bit bitter and curry like - you can smell it in a room if it’s in a recipe real heavy.

used to use it a lot back when I started home mixing - was a major component in sunset canyon, high noon and prairie dawn - which were predecessors to Nokomis - I stopped using it for Nokomis and found lighter alternatives.

I think that’s actually what I like about it. I’m not a big fan of too much sweetness, so it’s nice in the sense it can go in a quite dry tobacco mix and not really make it sweeter (like the one I’m puffing now).

I think I’m going to try a blend of this and seven leaves.

I wonder if I mixed the tester too strong the first time. I recall it tasting a bit muted and funky and not really getting much maple. And maybe slightly bitter actually. I’m going to assume 2% is as high as is good to go with it.

Aye let us know how you get on. Mind it’s not sweet, as @Chris K mentioned so you’ll need something else to add sweetness if it’s a desert blend.

I’ll mainly use it with tobaccos so the lack of sweetness is a pro for me.

Ah, and I remembered, the other ingredient in here is FA oakwood. I think there might be the beginnings of good blend here.
