Hi all,

Got me a DIY starter kit from Alchemists Cupboard the other day, so far I have a few flavours:

Ethyl Maltol, New York Cheesecake, French Vanilla, Sweet Watermelon, Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble, Peaches & Cream, Raspberry, Vanilla Custard, Menthol.

Hopefully I can make a few things with those? Really wanting a watermelon or raspberry menthol, which is similar to one of my favourite premium juices. Question is how much menthol do I use per 10ml? Also a Raspberry Vanilla Cheesecake.. Hopefully the below screenshot looks good?

Can you recommend any other juices I can make from the flavours I have above? Been using the "eJuice me up" calculator which seems quite easy to use.

Hi, welcome to POTV! I've been mixing my own for a couple of months, still pretty new to it. I'm afraid I've not done any menthol ones yet so can't really help much there. The mix you've typed up looks like it might work. I think gary68 has used the New York cheesecake concentrate so may have some advice for it. If you wanted to get a couple more flavours without being stung for postage, I've recently noticed that you can order upto 4 x 10ml bottles from chef's vapour and only pay £1 for postage. Good luck with it and keep us all posted. Ps it's worth having a read through the different mixology threads, you'll get lots of mixing ideas and hear about other people's mixing experiences there.

Nothing more satisfying than puffing your own brews.

All I'll say is the same that was said to me, if your trying new mixes then make small just in case it fails.

There are plenty of recipes if you put a search into google.

I'd mix up each one to get an idea of flavour and strengths needed in a small batch of each, maybe 5ml?

Never used menthol so can't really give any advice there.

Watermelon with a hint of Raspberry sounds like it might be nice ;)

New York Cheesecake, French Vanilla, Blueberry Cinnamon Crumble, Peaches & Cream, Vanilla Custard you'll likely need to steep for upto 3 weeks to get the best idea of their taste, straight fruits and menthol require very little steeping if any.

Think the vanilla and raspberry might overpower the cheesecake @those % .I use Capella NYC it needs 15% ,maybe try yours @15% NYC. 2.5% each of the others as they are accent flavours

Thanks for all the tips guys! I can see how rewarding making your own juices is, the peaches and cream one I have tastes really nice right off the bat, and cost next to nothing!

Do you have any tips on using the menthol from Capella? Wanted to make a straight up menthol, but not sure how much to use :woot:

There was a thread about making your own menthol concentrate earlier today. I personally get a 5mg tub of menthol crystals from Boots or your local pharmacy for less than £2. Then crush the crystals into dust between a folded sheet of paper. I then carefully put the dust into a 30ml empty bottle and fill with PG. Shake it like a polaroid picture to dissolve it and a couple of drops will turn any mix into a menthol.

Thanks @daz_app

I've got a bottle of menthol concentrate from Capella, but tried to add some into some base vg/pg and I've had to add loads to get a menthol effect. Buying the crystals seems like a cheaper alternative so I'll grab some from boots this week.

I personally like 5% as I like the freshness, so 0.5ml in a 10ml bottle. However, you could start lower and build it up to get your preferred strength. Be aware though, that it can drown out more subtle flavours....
