New to tc my wife got me a koopor mini tc up until now been using a kbox vw with mutation x i have only used 26 awg . i have some ss on the way but i now know i cant use that in tc mode .
which would be the best wire to start off with and which awg for first time tc coils.

cheers
rob

From what I can see, the koopor mini tc only does TC with NI200(?) but as NI200 is not much cop you would be better to run some NiFe30 from Stealthvape and offset the temp a bit. 28 gauge dual spaced coils should give a decent resistance in your Mut'.

Thank you for the advice guys i will be ordering some of that wire next friday when i get paid .until then vw mode it is then

I've just been looking at the specs for the Koopor Mini, if yours is the one that does 60w then you have a choice if Nickel or Titanium modes, If yours does have the Titanium mode then that is a good wire to choose, just build a spaced coil and don't dry fire the coil (Titanium burns if you heat it to the point where it's visibly glowing). Theres a thread here on the TC subforum about building with Titanium...

yes mine is the 60w i see the thread about building with titanium but was unsure if to go down that route as a first time tc build

I find NiFe30 a lot easier to handle than Ti and I would say it's probably a better first option. Ti is good because it has very high temp sensing accuracy, meaning you can use thicker wire and need fewer wraps.

Yep, thats good advice, if you opt for NiFe30 you should be able to adjust the TCR of the Ni200 setting from 60 to 50 which should give you almost a 1:1 temperature settings match across the range.

I'll back up the recommendations for NiFe30. I use the Stealthvape variety in 29 AWG for my IPV D2, which only has settings for Ni200 and Ti. I find dropping the temperature setting by 10°C gives results comparable to my chosen settings on mods with variable TCR. I've also had success with NiFe30 clapton coils with a 29AWG core and 32 AWG Kanthal wrap, again with about 10°C reduction in the temp setting.
