The Maxpod I received was the red version & it looks very nice with its geometric shape in silver front & back & a star shape around the LED indicator. The sides are polished alloy adding to thee classy looks with the USB slot on the left. It is heavier than a lot of pod systems this size but then this isn’t plastic but is a well-made device. On top is the slot for the pod head with 3 sprung pins & 2 round magnets & airflow is via 2 small holes on the sides of the mod. The pod is PCTG utilising the Freemax NS mesh coils, simple push fit, with the fill port on the side covered by a silicone bung. As this is a MTL device the small fill port shouldn’t be a problem with the nibs on 10ml bottles. Best way to fill is by tipping the pod mouthpiece down slightly to ensure air can escape. The pod itself is smoked but held up to the light it’s easy to see the juice level. Once the coil is primed & pod filled it can be popped onto the mod & the LED will flash once to confirm coil is fitted correctly. Give it a few minutes to wick & it’s ready to go. This is a draw activated device so no buttons to press.
The pre-installed coil is the 1.0ohm option. Starting with this with a 50/50 10mg nic salt I found flavour to be ok, throat hit low, but my friend found it nice & smooth. Coil lasted over the 5-8 refills stated with no noticeable drop off. The 1.5ohm proved to be the better coil for flavour & throat hit, likely due to it being a tighter draw. My friend really enjoyed this one especially with 20mg salts, giving the right nic hit & flavour. So much so they’ve now taken possession of the Maxpod as it has helped to get off the cigs completely.
Despite the wick ports in the coils being quite generous there has been no flooding, and more importantly no leaking.
Summing up
This kit has been used primarily by a new vaper to see how well it helped with kicking the cigs & has been a success. No fuss filling, good flavour & nic delivery being the plusses. Charging, despite being micro USB B is decent for a 550mAh capacity, charging from dead to full in less than an hour & given the 8-11w range you won’t be recharging often. There is no pass through charging but not a biggie given the speed. Power levels are indicated by the colour of the LED, white 100-65%, blue 65-30% & red 30-0%.
No real issues to report. The pod having the main body hidden does mean you have to tip the device to see the juice level but as you’re unlikely to be refilling more than twice a day not an issue.
Judging by the success in helping a friend finally kick the smoking habit I would recommend this for a new vaper & as a small carry round device for any MTL vaper.
