Funny taste

Just done another coil for my aga and no hot spots, I must be getting good. I used the same wick but I'm not getting the taste I was led to believe I would, almost like a metallic burnt taste every now and again. Is this just cos I'm used to cartos or is that the rebuildable taste

You shouldn't be getting a burnt metal taste. Did you burn off the wick before re-using it? Where is your mesh from?

No, those are spots on the wick called "Dry Spots"

The mesh wicks work using a capillary action, meaning the liquid travels up the mesh. If you coil is not tight enough, the liquid cant travel up.

Also, depends on the mesh you are using. I dont get these nasty metal tastes now that I switched to a better quality mesh.


Drop a couple drops of juice on the wick/coil bit to help keep it wet till the capillary gets moving. Dont forget to do the "Genny Tilt"!

Cheers ill try the tilt, the mesh is from stealth vape so its the good stuff.

They are lol! Who told ya tanks and rebuildables were easy? Cuz they were lying!


Jokes, once you get a good coil on the wick on your tank, you will understand why a lot of people "upgrade" to rebuildables.


I dont know why you would have to burn the daylights out of the stealth mesh, my wick barely got flamed for 30 seconds to a minute tops!

Cartos are easier but when you ge the wick and coil right the flavour is cleaner. Trouble is it can take abit of fiddling to get it right.

In my short wicking experience if it tastes funny it's your own fault.
There's lots of fixes on YouTube. I'd link one but I'm on my phone and not sure how
