The GeekVape Aegis Solo 3 (S100) Box Mod

https://www.healthcabin.net/geekvape-aegis-solo-3-box-mod-p/30124.html

This is the 18650 single battery version. There is an internal battery version as well so watch what you’re ordering if you’re getting one.

The Solo 3 is, as noted, a single 18650 battery mod that goes up to 100w. It’s got the ip68 tri-proof technology of the Aegis range so it’s likely to be quite robust. There’s a 0.96” TFT screen on it and it charges via a USB Type C slot located on the top of the mod. It has the AS 4.0 chip inside, which GeekVape claim will give a consistent vape throughout. Personally, I’m not so sure.

In the box you get:

1 Aegis Solo 3 Mod
1 USB-C Cable
1 Manual

Style wise it’s another Aegis so has the usual design of a metal C frame for shock absorption with a leather type soft back to make it comfortable to hold. There’s rubber on the top and bottom but as it’s a smaller mod there’s not as much as it’s bigger cousin the Legend. There’s a 510 pin on top and the mod itself will take up to around a 25mm atty without looking bad or out of proportion. The front screen is sleek, with a nice clicky fire button, the screen and then the wattage adjustment buttons at the bottom, both looking nice and integrated into the glass panel that runs down the front of the mod. The USB C slot is covered by a rubber covering, making it waterproof and earning the IP68 rating.

Function wise there’s a lot there. It has the GeekVape hold to lock technology in it, which didn’t hold up so well for me after a while on the Legend 3 but has been consistently good on this mod. The idea is that you hold the mod, and it unlocks, once you put it back down it’ll lock again. You can switch this off or use button lock if that’s not for you, but I find it works well for me.

Three clicks on the fire button will get you into the menu and the first line on that is mode. In mode you can set to smart mode, power (VW), boosting (basically bypass), memory, eco or TC-TCR. A good range of modes.

The next line on the menu is lock settings, which I’ve already mentioned. Then there’s a puff counter menu, a colour menu, a brightness menu then the about screen. I don’t bother resetting the puff counter, I always switch the colour to purple and always make sure the brightness is at 100 personally.

In use I fired on my usual mesh rebuildable and fired it up at 50w. It was nice but I do find the Aegis mods can sometimes be a little weaker than others, so I popped it up to 55w and it felt a bit more like what I prefer. What I did find is that the battery doesn’t go down by 1% at a time, it only notes when it’s gone down by 10%. And to add to that the draw seemed to weaken once it hit 20%. Kind of dispels the claim that the AS 4.0 chip keeps things consistent for longer but then I do tend to charge my batteries a lot sooner than that anyway as I’m always worried about them running out on me when I’m not near my charger.

Overall the mod is decent. It’s not the best single 18650 I’ve tried and I’m not entirely keen on the battery indicator only going down ten at a time. It is a well-designed mod though and the lock technology seems to work very well so I like it for that alone.

Thanks again to Healthcabin for sending this to me for testing. You can find it on their site and if you make an account things tend to be cheaper even still.
