Genuine or fake Sony's VTC4's

Hi All,

Picked up a couple of Sony 18650 VTC4's from 'Vape Smart' store in Slough. But I think they are fake....possibly. I'm no expert but the thing that stood out was the font was different size on each of the battery's and the distance of the backwards 'RU' was closer to the negative end of the battery compared to the other.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated. If these are fakes I'll be returning these first thing tomorrow morning!

They look good to me, identical to the pair I have. The positive terminal is key, and these look right.

Remember, these are not made for retail sale, they're meant for laptops etc. where they will never be seen, so presentation isn't a priority.

If you're uncertain, don't use them in a mech at first, regulated devices will usually flag up a problem.

My opinion only but I stay away from Sony due to loads of fakes on the market for one and also the fact that Sony stopped producing vt4 vt5 along time ago not sure on the dates, so even if not fakes the batteries have had a massive shelf life or been manufactured by another company and Sony take no liability for the battery safety ect.

Thanks for the advice chaps but I'm going to return these tomorrow. These were intended for use in my mech but I'm taking no chances.

Look genuine to me bud, same as my vtc5's from a very reliable source on here.

The ONLY vendor I trust for batteries is @Huggett at checkandvape.co.uk guaranteed genuine batteries and a top top bloke to boot. Good luck with the return of the 'sonys' my b&m doesn't accept batteries as returnable

Honestly they look good to me also. I don't have my Sonys to hand, but they don't strike me as being off.

Wrap colour looks good, POS terminal also looks good.

one is from May 2015 and the other November 2015 unless of course they just copied the serial code

Individually they look OK but obviously different batches. QR codes - again very different numbers (serials?) so take them back and complain they're not matched?
