Around a month ago I was contacted by Geekvape regarding they're new GRIFFIN 25 PLUS RDTA tank and would I like to do a review.....so I thought why not, well 7am this morning it's arrived.
First off I have nothing connection with geekvape, I am NOT being paid for this review and I did not contact geekvape...geekvape contacted me to ask if I would give an HONEST review of this new griffin 25 plus RDTA.
I recieved Geekvape's new GRIFFIN 25 PLUS RDTA today and on 1st impression of the packaging it looked very good with the rta right there to view before the box is opened with a nice diagram of the velocity build deck right there to view..
On the back of the container is a list of what the Griffin 25 plus kit contains,
The kit contains;
1x Griffin 25 plus rta,
1x 3 way Allen key screwdriver,
1x Flat top cap,
1x polybag of spares ie; assorted 'O' rings, grub screws, replacement glass tank tube and a ceramic block for those who want to go single coil.
The build deck is extremely easy to build on with nice deep juice channels just like on an RDA, the holes for your coils are nice and big and the grub screws are pretty good and do what they are ment to do and that's to hold the coils nice and tight and in place.
Looking at the air flow there is a really nice ring on the bottom of the build deck that doesn't spin right around But is fully open to the left or closed off to the right, and what's nice about this airflow adjustment is its a click type ie; it has a ball bearing inside and clicks into place for your airflow style, so NO accidental turning your airflow closed or fully open etc, it's where you want it and that's great, the metal top cap has 4x airflow slots in it that the 14cm drip tip fits into that can be closed or opened for more airflow, WHY companies do this to drip tips is beyond me as I think it's just another gimmick that I personally think doesn't make a difference when it's open or closed.... but what if I want to use a standard drip tip? Not a problem as geekvape have thought of that and put a 510 drip tip adaptor in the spares bag..nice!..... the flat top cap and drip tip is just one piece,
Looking down on the build deck there is no juice flow channel slots but 4x holes, two above each juice channel that's underneath so no filling the channel up with wicking material, for those who are familiar with RDA builds will love this as wicking is easy and when coiled and wicked the cotton just sits on top of each hole and juice flows up through the these holes.
Time to build the GEEKVAPE GRIFFIN 25 PLUS RDTA.
1st off I give the tank a good wash to clean any machine oil that could still be on/in the tank, as I do with ALL tanks I get.
MOD;
I'm using is the white reuleaux RX200 (that was a surprise gift from a few extremely kind apes that clubbed together to send it me,)
COILS;
I'm using @cloudcuckoo 26/38 KAI - N80 2.5 fused Claptons.
WICKING MATERIAL;
Muji wool.
VAPE JUICE;
Philea's Fogg's 'BAYKWELL' e-juice @3mg nic and 70/30 vg/pg
I have found this quite an easy build to be honest as the fused Clapton coils easily fitted in the holes with plenty to spare and the grub screws tightened down nicely with NO slack, just nice and snug, the dual fused Clapton coils are coming in @ 0.19 ohms, so then I wick the coils with Muji wool and tuck the wool underneath so that it's like a ring of wool on each coil making sure that the wool is on top of each juice hole, time to prime the coils & wool with some Philea's Fogg's BAYKWELL e-juice that is NEW to me, after juicing the coils and wool the tanks screws together nicely with no backing off and trying to tighten again, it's just fitted together easily,, now to fill the tank, unscrew the top cap and there is 2x huge juice slots that even the glass pippets will fit in, so is very easy to fill up.
I Start to vape at 35w then upto 50w then 60w and I find my sweet spot at 50w..the Geekvape Griffin 25 Plus RDTA performes really quite well with NO dry hits, NO flooding and unlike my personal favourite RDTA it does NOT leak when it's on its side.
Now let's crank this up to see if I can make it give me a dry hit...70w ? ...nope no dry hits...right 80w? .....nope STILL no dry hits, there's no way I could be this lucky for the 1st build straight off and it's performing beautifully.
The flavour production is very very good with loads of flavour and the clouds yes let's talk about the clouds this tank can produce, well I just nearly got banished to the garden for clouding out the front room & kitchen by the wife.... so yes it chucks out clouds if you want it to.....
Right I am going to close off the air flow and turn the wattage down and try something here....... yes it works....
......what works I hear you ask?..... I just done a mouth to lung hit and with the 510 adaptor ( included ) and the right coil build I recon this RDTA could be used for mouth to lung Vaping as with the airflow shut off it is very closed to the early MTL tanks, as there is nearly as much air coming through but just a little tighter but not much to be honest.
Right that's my review of the Geekvape 'Griffin 25 Plus RDTA '..... I have tried to be as honest and as truthful as I can be....do I think this RDTA is any good? He'll YES! would I go out and buy one? YES, would I sell my granny to buy one?...I would have to think about that.
