heavy throat hit

hey peeps

been trying out the new toy and having some weird effects

tested my fav liquid menthol 70/30 mix with a 2ml nova 2.4 head @ 7w great taste and plumes of vapor.

after cleaning out the tank alittle bigger @ 2.8ml with 2.4 head proceeded testing started at 5w and going up now @ 7w again and am getting massive taste and to much throat hit but small amounts vapor. I backed down to 6w because hit was to strong

does the tank size effect that if so or would I be better changing to a different pg/vg mix ?

lots of taste and no vaper might indicate the coil is flooded or too dry

I left the tank off for about 30 mins before testing it again

no gargling from the tank

am thinking now that the heads faulty am getting burning taste now even @ 4.5w sometimes not firing and the ohms reading is 9.9.

so is the head faulty ?

a 9.9 on the Vamo means theres nothing connected to it... you could have a coil touching metal inside so you may have to dismantle it, take a tooth pick and give the coil a lil wiggle.

after close inspection of the other nova that came with the kit

the head had 2 coils @ the end touching and after draining the other tank and checking it. It was wound in as if it was bending in the middle, so middle 3 coils were touching and 1 end one now @ 6w and all is fine so i thought crappy taste back again

so filled other tank and boom again over 5w burnt or muted taste

back to old 2ml tanks no issues loads of vapor and plenty of taste @ 7.5w

conclusion crappy wicks and coiling probably am no expert tho just opinion


thanks for the tip (worth trying)

thinking i might invest in a couple of evod,s or a protank or wait for protank 2

I find that if you get a nasty throat hit its normally a wicking issue..... Rebuild the fucker

i will try it at some point am sort of new and been looking at doing this cheers anyway..

suggestion of wick size and gauge of wire

I have a little theory about wire guage, I have some 0.17 kanthal (says 2.0 on the card) and people recommend around 3-5 turns on he coil BUT most of my tanks original coils the wire looks much thinner and has way more turns on the coil.
I say I have a theory but it's more an observation and I dont know why so it's more a comment than and observation or a theory.
Ignore me and ask someone who has a clue

I agree on the building your own. Only been doing my own for a couple of months but once you get the hang of it you can rebuild a head in about 5 mins, plus it works out cheaper and when you do a good one and vapes like a dream there is a little sense of achievement
