Hey guys went for first mix today using calculator on here. looked like this

10ml mix , 15% flavour , 5% distilled water @ final strength 10 mg nic

52mg nic vg based - 1.9 ml
vg liquid - 6.1 ml
cool mint capella flavour pg based - 1.5 ml
dilutants distilled water - 0.5ml

Could not wait for steeping needed to test, so poured around 0.5ml in my mini protank 2, let it wick for a few minutes and vaped. The taste was not overly great yet, lots of flavour but kind of harsh chemical mint tast rather than cool nice mint, guess i ned to steep for a few days at least.

Any how , it didnt seem to vape great i think the mix was to vg heavy to wick well, so i added 0.4ml to the 9.5ML mixture remaining, shook it for a while. cleaned atty and tank out, refilled with 1.5ml of juice, loads vapour , enough TH for me but still weird taste, as said guess it needs steeping to get the chemical tatse away.

Point is whats happend to the mix, any idea what
my vg / pg ratio is?
final nic strength?
flavour %???

Dont have windows or android phone so cant get the really good calculators??

thanks for you help guys

much love.!

PS Sorry if this has double posted thought mixology would be better than newbies bit.

@MJS There are a hell of a lot of variables in why your liquid didn't come out as expected, here are a couple of the most obvious causes: That's simply how the concentrate tastes, it needs to steep, your bases are producing flavours so try them on their own to rule it out (dilute the nicotine to your standard strength first). As an aside you could try adding a couple of drops (2-4 drops per 10ml) of ethyl maltol to help blend the flavours if you have it. I have noticed that with the more perfumed/chemical flavours steeping with the lid off for up to 24hrs makes a huge difference.

If it doesn't work out this time don't let it get to you, it takes a lot of research, time and some times luck to get something that rocks out of your DIY. Keep at it!

These are your PG?VG ratios - 15.79%PG 84.21%VG

Cheers dude.

Really ? eve though i have used water, vg based nic, vg as the base and only flavour as the pg??

Much love.!

You will find that VG gives less throat hit and the flavour will not be so pronounced, yes you will get loads of clouds.
PG will give better flavour and more throat hit, also less clouds.
I tend to go 50/50 on my mixes, when you use the calculator you can use the PG/VG slider to your preferred % also you need to put in your nic base strength and the % that you want as the end result.
On a side note, i tend to dilute my VG with distilled water and use that as is, i never put in dilutants as it is premixed to about 20% water to 80% VG.
Apart from that, it is really trial and error, what is good for you could be mediocre to someone else, taste is subjective.
hope the info helps?

I use the cool mint concentrate in one of my mixes, and have never needed to go beyond 4% on the cool mint, it could be that you are using too much concentrate that is causing the chemical taste, so try mixing a 1ml sample with 5% flavor and see how you find it :)
