I want to get a couple of 18500 batteries for my hammer clone.
I believe it's the tobecco clone.

Firstly... Does anyone know if I'll want the flat top ones or the button top?
I've heard that you need the button top, but I'm currently using the flat top 18350 and it works fine.

Secondly... Mah.
It looks like I can get anything from 1000mah to 2000mah.

Does the higher 'mah' mean more power output? Or do I just get more life out of the batterys?

Also, I've seen a you tube vid of a guy using both extension tubes and putting an 18350 and an 18500 battery in the mod. Is this safe?

!8350 + 18650 stupid and dangerous.
more mah = more life but no more power and usually lower amp limit.

As big as you can get, but I've never seen an 18500 bigger than 1200.

Unless you're sub-ohming, of course, in which case go for the highest amp rating.

The amp limit on the battery is the most important thing in a mech (the hammer is a mech?)
The higher mah batteries have lower amp limits.
Also 18500 have lower amp limits than 18650.
Play with a coil calculator and work out what the amps required for the lowest build you will be doing are. Then give yourself a good margin of error for safety and to account for deterioration of the battery over time.
Beyond that I have no idea, others may have more useful information for you, I am no expert on batteries.
This is just the basics that mech users are meant to know.
In short the mah is less important than being safely within the amp limit on the battery.

Thanks all.

I'm still trying to work things out.

I'm getting a much much better vape from a single coil running at 1.5-1.8ohms than I am with duel coils at 0.7 ohms.

My current batteries are 900mah.

I think I need to do some more learning.

If your builds are going to be 1.5 ohm or above you will be safe on the higher mah batteries as they will have plenty amp
limit.

Thanks.

With the stuff I have, the highest resistance I can get when building duel coil is about 0.8ohms.
Will that still be safe for my 900mah 3.7v batteries?

I do find that I don't get the bast vape from duel coil, but I'm looking to find a way to play with it. I just don't know if I need to be buying bigger batteries or different batteries.
