I'm trying to mix high vg with flavouring preferably under 20% ,due to possible allergic reaction to high flavours.

I dont actually know if this is actually possible yet..but early results indicate it's problematic..

I mixed a grants clone. 9ml 15%cvc ,2 ddl,1 drop em,
Heat pad several times, frothed a couple,2 hrs sunlight.
7 days since mixed

Tried it just now...not very nice at all..no sweetness and not really comparable to genuine article
getting a bit frustrated

I am new to mixing, but I think if it were me I would start with a simpler juice. Take some of the variables out of the equation to see how things worked. Given that you are creating a very different end product the standard recipes may not work, you may need to pioneer your own recipes because of the way your ingredients effect flavour.

very difficult to get any definitive answers...presumably because it's such a new science.
in order to make up for the lack of pg i have to add extra flavour, which therefore increases pg anyway..(and cost)
I'm beginning to think that i'd be better adding a touch of pg which would allow less flavouring to be successful..

Of course it might be that all my mixes are ok but i've not given them enough steeping time..although being almost exclusively custards ,how much time that should be is unknown.

Ok try approaching it scientifically. Start with some unflavoured juice. How long does it take your symptoms to kick in? Mix some small samples of PG/VG/nic in different proportions. Test vape them to gauge your reactions, make it the first thing you vape after you wake up to give you a maximum vape free period before each trial. Have a different flavour free concentration for breakfast each day see what happens with regards to your symptoms at the various proportions.

Next get some flavourings from each of the major suppliers. I would suggest a plain vanilla. Mix samples with a pg/vg ratio that seems to work replace part of the pg with flavour, say 10% of the total mix and make each of the mixes to exactly the same proportions. This will help guide you to the most flavoursome concentrates. Test again using the breakfast routine, to check if anything is setting off your symptoms.

twoeyedbob - Hi, you get anywhere with testing? Interested in some high VG mixes as well, although still at the reading stage and not actually made any yet. Was wondering how well distilled water carries flavours though, so I can avoid PG as much as possible.

just get into it...it's fairly straight forward with the stuff in front of you and any of the multitude of e-liquid apps.
you can avoid pg completely other than flavouring...
it's possible that 5-10% distilled water will allow you to cut down on flavour concentrates 'slightly'..but tbh the evidence is'nt really conclusive.

Plenty of tried and tested recipes on line..kritical mass(i think) is one i've been looking at for ideas of what works with what.

Sooner you start the sooner you can start steeping :-(
Although most stuff is vapeable within a few days unless your a custard junkie

Best advice I can give is that high vg does generally require more flavouring but the more vg in the mix the longer the steep most custards take 4-6 weeks to be good ;) I never use any speed up methods. After mixinig for a while it will become a regular rotation of steeping and you will be able to time it well although I like to rotate things so don't always have every mix on the go at once.

I'm finding some mixes aren't reaching true flavour for nearly 8 wks! At approx 70%+ vg

Cheers, had a look at the clone section on that kritical mass... interesting!
