Evening folks, hope we are all well :)

In the post today i received a dotmod petri clone kit mod & rda.

I took everything apart and gave it a good clean and soak.

I have a dual clapton build in around .4ohms and its a nice vape, however im noticing the switch on the bottom getting quite hot after a few vapes.

Anyone have this mod and have the same issue? Is it safe to carry on using like this or is it an accident waiting to happen? Also is there any way to resolve it? Never had this before on my nebula mod so thought id ask here before i carry on using it.

Cheers guys any advice appreciated! :)

Do you think you can change the spring in the switch to magnets?
My 1st mech was also a clone and I had the same problem, then was told by an ape to replace cheap crappy spring and then all was well.

@Jugg1es or @Tubbyengineer are the go to guru's of all things vape and can explain better but, unless the spring is good quality they, for me, always seem to frak up and do the hot switch. Pain in the finger...
A further clean out of all the threads, nooks, crannys and a hunt for magnets is in order and I'd really not be using the mech again until the issue is sorted, just in case!!

Cheers fella, i know its nothing to do with builds or attys as i have tried a few and its the same.

I was guessing it had something to do with the switch mechanism itself but wanted to make sure.

I have some spare magnets & spring nocking about from my nemesis but i think the inside diameter might be too big for the petri.

The spring that came with it is pretty weak like compared to the nemesis spring i have, do you think i could use the nemesis spring if it fits in the petri?

Scratch the nemesis spring idea lol

The issue is that the spring is just another coil. If it's thin and weak it could be of a higher resistance than your coils, particularly if you're chucking huge great Claptons in your attie, which means it will heat up before you're coil does.

Ahh i see! The spring is pretty shite like :( suppose thats the price you pay with these cheap clones!

Just seen a video on youtube and a guy recomends to slip a micro coil down in the negative pin threads on the button? Do you think this would help at all?

After what youve just said im thinking it will only make matters worse :s

Heres the vid....

It may improve connectivity and he seems to know what he's talking about.

Have a look at Loaded Springs at Pitstopmodshop. The Dotmod Petri isn't listed, but if you email them they may have one that fits.

Thanks for the advice folks,

Found another issue with it, the spring loaded insulator that stops battery rattle is a tad uneven when pressed down ffs so maybe this is playing a part in the hot button issue, who knows.

No big loss like only an £10 clone lol will more than likely end up just grabbing another one off FT and hope for a better piece.

Thanks again apes :2thumbsup:
