hot spots!!!

I just watched a video on you tube about dripping and they were talking about not getting hot spots. Now first they didnt speak to much about it and im wanting to find out a little more on this as my coils i have built for my evods and my protank maybe giving me this problem. I can hear the coils burn as i hold the button down before vaping but sometimes I can hear a kinds stuttering or pause then it starts to burn again? Now i have been having some issues with my vamo and am not sure if this is down to that or not but for about the last week my squid ink has not tasted right and was wondering if this had anything to do with it.... and yes i have cleaned them and dried them properly ( tanks that is ) and tried different coils and still its not tasting right.

I... am crap at questions like this.. But I can almost 100% guarantee people are gonna ask for a pic of your coils.. So at least that gives you something to do while you wait for a better reply *nods*

My understanding of a hotspot is that they are small shorts between the resistance and the most commonly ss mesh.
Sounds to me that your problem may be caused by several different things...

The wicks may not be getting enough juice fast enough.

There may be a short somewhere in your protank/coil.

Or there may not be a problem at all and all you can hear is the juice spit as it does its thing.

I have never been asked for pictures of my coils before,pmsl. I think im gonna recoil some new coils and see how that goes. Think i may go to a different supplier for the wire and wire this time..... and before the rebuildables posse linch me i will contact stealth vapes for them ( i like the stealth name to).

You have not even brought me lunch yet! I dont know why but i now have the music from the gallery bit from that old program with tony hart and morph going round in my head now.

To clarify what a hotspot is to the best of my knowledge:

When you make a coil, sometimes one wrap is looser then the others, which when you fire it you will see one wrap start to glow red while the rest is still normal. This is a hotspot. Adjust it with a pair of tweezers(moving it around a little bit to make it as even to the rest as possible) will sometimes solve the problem.

When you fire your atty, you will sometimes hear sizzling/crackling, that is normal, and is just your juice being vaporised. If you see black burning forming around a wrap, that is where your hotspot is. Ideally you want the entire coil to glow all at the same time.

Hope this is of some help to you, but I'm sure someone will be along with more coiling skills then myself with more tips/advice!

Oh and dont be afraid of a little dry firing when using silica, it can really help to spot err hot spots. Just dont press the button for too long as dry coils get very very hot.
