Hotspot with a difference

Here's a question I never knew I'd ask, because it's never happened to me before and I've never heard of it happening to anyone else either. Is it possible for an entire coil to be a hotspot? I've just rewicked my Aga T2 for roughly the millionth time and fired it. The whole coil lit up instantly, seemingly better than it has in a long time. Upon vaping it though, everything tastes burned. Now I haven't changed juice, I've put the same number of wraps on it as usual, same mod (Sig Zmax), same method of oxidisation. The only difference is the fact that I have recoiled it. It's a weird one and no mistake, I'm almost tempted not to (re)rewick it and keep it forever as an anomaly, alongside all the two headed foetuses and pickled Beadle claws that I haven't got.

Have you checked what ohms it is?

Can only be that the wire you have used is very very low resistance.

noisysprings : It's the same wire I've been using for months, 0.2 kanthal, bought on a 5m drum, and resistance is a healthy 2.3 ohms. Grizzly Adams : Yeah, very similar. Merino-Teflon : Nope, wires all nicely trimmed. I'm properly flummoxed, I'm not a noob to Genesis or rewicking in general, been vaping almost 2 and a half years on and off (only one year fully on, as it were) and this has never happened before.

Check your battery output if it's 0.2 Kanthal at 2.3 Ohms then you should not be getting a burnt taste unless you've got massive current / voltage going through there...
