I know this topic has been discussed multiple times and more often that, mechs somehow seem to gain the upper hand half way through the discussion.. hadn't had much of a chance to contribute then cuz i hadn't tried a mech till then. Now have been using a vela mech for sometime and also my SVD. Apart from the fact that you can sub-ohm on a mech, I somehow find a hybrid to be better primarily because I can decide the output from the batteries. For eg., I currently have a 1.1 ohm coil sitting on my kf. On my svd, I set the voltage at 4 and i get an excellent vape. When I try the same on my mech, it gives me a good output for some time but once the battery starts emptying, you can feel it, say when its around 3.7. I dont need worry about that on a hybrid because it gives me 4 constantly. (May be it does stress the batteries a bit but nothing to worry eh?) Any thoughts on that?

ahhh... hybrid... those are the ones that sort of look like this

Theyre basically a genny tank and a mech mod that are made TO go together...

What you are calling a hybrid is a VV/VW mod :)

Yeah you're talking about regulated mods vs mech mods.

A hybrid is a mech mod with an atomiser that's combined as one single unit to look nice. Usually but not always a Genesis style atomiser (though you can obviously play around with different builds and you don't have to use mesh)

While you can get a better vape from a mechanical. A mech is really 'smooth' whereas a regulated mod uses electronics to 'pulse' the voltage from the battery quickly so it feels a bit different. Some regulated mods do this better than others. e.g. a ProVari uses pulse width modulation (PWM) (the fancy name for the pulsing) but vapes smoother than a vamo a it uses better quality electronics (which are more expensive) most of the regulated mid priced mods are using identical electronics inside, or at least very similar electronics.

If you like what you're vaping then great. Who cares what it is, if it hits the spot for you then it's all good.

You can also turn a mech mod into a regulated mod using a Kick. Which is a little electronics module that fits inside that does the same thing that the electronics in a regulated mod does, more or less.

I prefer the PWM 'rattlesnake' kind of vape myself rathe than the smooth vape from a mech. It's a bit like taste in e-liquids. Which is 'best' is entirely down to personal preference.

A true Hybrid is a all in one unit, the beauty of this is that it removes a point of contact from a 510 top cap to the point of contact on on the Atty, Thus removing voltage drop off

true Hybrid, Juggernauts, Hellfire, Ikuras, I Hybrid eyc

Example (but not the coffee lol)

as times have moved on Hybrid adaptors have been intruded so you can hybridise your mod such as Nemesis adaptors

Attys that come with 510 and Hybrid adaptor

the beauty of these allows the user to use a vast variety of atty on any Mod

On any Mech mod you will get a better vape, but as already mentioned as your battery drops off you will get a drop off in flavour once the battery goes below 3.5 volts (personal taste), Already mentioned above you can use a kick and I would always say use a kick on silica on a mech to give a constant voltage, mesh is a different ball game IMO

Thanks .. My bad... I was referring to regulated mods

Damn.. I didn't know hybrids were a different breed altogether.. Thanks for the enlightenment! Carlos, VaperCaper & KulrMeStoopid
I frankly can't detect the difference in Vape quality from a regulated vs mech.. So less complications in life I guess! N hybrids.. No thanks for now! :)

I quite like hybrids myself. What I really want and hope to get at month end is a mister, I've been offered a mister v1, which from a little research, should suit me well, it is described as having an airy draw (I consider a wide open kayfun tight tbh) and is a bottom coil device which I like for portability.

If your already using rba's, a hybrid really has little difference to what your used too other than the need to use a meter to check your coil resistance rather than a 510 ohn checker.

try sticking a full charged battery in and then swapping it for one below 3.5 volts you will see a difference, if you don't there is something wrong with your taste buds

I can definitely detect a difference there.. But I was referring to a fully charged battery on a mech as well as a regulated mod.. Both at 4 / 4.1 .. I can't make out the difference.. :)

Thanks for that... Yep.. Have 'upgraded' to the kfs n taifuns of the world n seem to be working fine for me..
