I fancy trying some budget fancy coils, ideally for 20-40 watts?

Hello everyone, I am in the mood to try some fancier coils such as fused claptons or aliens for RTA's and RDA's like my Kylin Mini RTA I am currently using, but have no idea what I am looking for or what budget brands make good coils.

I'm not a super high wattage vaper, so something that with a single coil works in the 20-40W range would be good, or for duals the 40-80W range which is quite high for me.

I would be using these for regulated vaping so the resistance is not too important, and something like a 2.5MM or 3MM ID would be perfect.

It would be even better if I could get them in SS316L so I can use TC on my Evolv and other TC powered boards.

If anyone can advise some cheap ones that are pretty decent I would be very thankful.

Been happy with the Wotofo quint coils £4 for 5 coils, there 5 cores N80 5x30/40. Done probly 3litres on pair in a DR3 RDA.

On a mech oumier Ni90 99p for 4 coils 2x26/38
There do N80 2x26/38

You ain't doing 20-40 Watts on those lumps...
True the 5x30/40 I run around 50w to 60w and the Oumiers 60w to 70w in singles.
He might be better of with RDL spec coils but unsure of budget friendly ones I can recommend from my own experience.

The Wotofo quint coils look cool but would be too power and juice hungry for me, however those 99P coils seem interesting.

They only have Ni90 in stock no Ni80, what is the difference between the two wire types? They come in at 0.25 Ohms so I imagine would run OK on my mechs, and also regulated I can just turn the power up a bit.

Where is a good place to look for RDL spec coils? As that might be better for my power levels, and am willing to try a few different ones if they are available cheaply.

I'm assuming you intend them for single coilers...

In the 30 to 40 watt range I'd go for basic dual 28 core Ni80 fused claptons, Wotofo, Coilology and Vandy Vape all do their own versions, the Vandy ones use a 35ga outer wrap instead of the 36 of others, but tbh they seem to vape the same and they all seem to be of similar quality so any one should do.

If you're going to be vaping below 30 watts I'd go for Coilology MTL staple wire - which is 4 strands of 0.3 x 0.1 with a 40ga clapton outer wrap. Ignore the 'MTL' label - I've found it to run best above 20 watts and it's my go to for modest powered RDL.

Both can be found in SS316 variants, but I'm not sure about using complex wires for TC. I suspect you'd get better TC results from plain round-wire builds rather than complex coils using a mix of wires of different diameters,

For the majority single coil yes, for the odd RTA that needs duals I will go dual coil, thats why I also mentioned the 40-80W range.

The coilology MTL ones sound interesting for lower power, I will check them out!

You are right about complex wires and TC, I have tried and failed in the past to get it working but thought I could give it another try. My go to wire is just plain old 26G SS316L for my TC builds, but I also have some Ti-01 and NiFe52 for my older mods that don't do SS316L TC.

Never used them but wotofo do these Aliens 3x30/38 0.5ohm.

20w for me is MTL power so use 2x30/40 fused Claptons.

I actually use less power with the quint coils over the 99p Oumiers, as they use 30g as the cores and you get good surface area for the mass, it's a pretty thin flat coil
Unfortunately that page isn't loading, remind me again what 3x30/38 means? Does that mean a triple core of 30 gauge wrapped in 38 gauge wire?

I see, I have come across this https://www.gourmeteliquid.co.uk/products/geekvape-6-in-1-coil-pack and wondered if that was any good to give me a taster of a few different coil types?

Yeah 3 cores of 30g with a alien 38 outta. Just search the site theres a few aliens, as your using low power your better of with with thinner gauge wire to keep the mass down.
I've not used geekvape coils, used a few of those multi packs of coils always been very poor. Dovpo do a 7 in 1 multi pack that's supposed to be ok, not sure though.
I only bother with Ni80 as the coils hold up longer with cleaning in my experience, flavours better for me personally aswell.
