This is a personal review of a product I bought. The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of this website, planetofthevapes.co.uk
Introduction
I had been toying with the idea of another hybrid style mod, particularly after obtaining the lovely 14500 Cyclon and Parva by Witcher, looking for a longer lasting mod by the battery life so had looked at a few in the 18*** size. Nothing really got my attention until KulrMeStoopid posted about the Caravella clone… OH has the EHPro clone version and I was quite impressed with this, as is he
During the thread conversation I found out about the Sigelei 8w (separate review later) and the iAtty Genesis Style RBA.
Vendor - Grey Haze
Price - £16.99 (£15.30 after POTV10 member discount)
Out of the Box
Mixed polished and brushed effect, quite nice! Plastic tank, held by visible O-rings, the construction materials were not confirmed and you can see a few rough edges. I will easily polish these out
20mm diameter, height 46mm without drip tip and 68mm with supplied drip tip
Tank holds up to 4ml of e-liquid
Pre-installed SS mesh and coil reading at 1.6ohm came already setup, which is excellent for those who are just starting with SS mesh wicks. The only issue was that the pre-installed wick was touching the tank bottom causing a short, new users need to ensure the pre-installed wick is tested using a multi-meter before use, or on a vv mod with atomiser ohm reading capability. I removed the preinstalled wick and installed a new SS mesh and coil at 1.2ohm after cleaning the entire atomiser.
Construction
The top cap is not a tight fit, it is very easily knocked off, a thicker O-ring or two would help with this. The juice filling hole does not have a screw or bung to seal the tank, so with the loose top cap, you cannot lay this down, or tilt particularly while the tank is at maximum capacity, it must remain upright at all times. And do not try to pick up by the top cap or drip tip alone… Standard 510 drip tip supplied, other 510 drip tips I have all fitted too.
1mm gap on Vamo, no gap on Sigelei 8w, no gap on EH Pro caravella clone, no gap on Leo 14500 and would not fit onto the Parva 14500 (looked a little silly on the 14500 mods though). However as the iAtty is narrower at 20mm than some of these mods which are on average 22mm, be prepared to get a tea towel and a pair of grips to get the iAtty off.
The Vape
This RBA has an airy draw on the Sigelei 8w and on the Vamo at 10w using a 50/50 e-liquid, which I found was on an equal par with the Kanger Protank. The air hole in the cap is a countersunk 1.5mm, and to get good flavour you need to ensure this is in line with the SS mesh wick in the tank. Throat hit was good but not the best I have had from the same e-liquid.
Conclusion
1 = Rubbish to 5 = Acceptable to 10 = Perfection (all are subjective)
Cost = 8
Size = 5
Vape = 6
Looks = 6
Tank = 5
6 out of 10
Overall for the cost this is an excellent starter or taster RBA for those who don’t want to, or can’t spend a lot to find out if they love, hate or are indifferent to RBA’s. Certainly better than acceptable, due to cost, looks and how it comes ‘out of the box’.
