Innokin Zlide Issue

Hi All,

I've been vaping around 3 years, using an Innokin Cool Fire 4 Plus, and the iSub Apex tank.

I decided recently to get something new, but stuck with Innokin.

I now have the Cool Fire 4 Plus and Kroma A batteries, and the iSub Apex, iSub B, Zenith, and Zlide tanks.

My question is on the zlide - vaping at 17W, using the Plex 3D 0.48 coil - If I try to use it back to back, the thing cuts out, just stops me drawing anything from it. Even if I try to go longer than 2 seconds, it's stopping me.

Its the same on both batteries, and the none of the other tanks do it on either battery.

Is this normal for the Zlide? Is it a safety measure of sorts? If not, whats causing the issue? the coil?

Thank you for any help you can offer

Check what mode the mod/battery is set to. What you're describing sounds like it's in TC/temp mode & cutting power due to the coil being too hot.

on Kroma I "think" you toggle modes with power & + or -

if in temp then press hold power/fire button & + (up) for about 3~5 secs
& it should go back to wattage mode

check coil is located correctly, locates in the slot/lugs of tank

or try another coil

Thanks for the reply nwhornet. This might sound pretty dumb, but how do you do that?

On the Kroma, I can hold all 3 buttons and switch it to tell me what appears to be a Fahrenheit number, it says 400F. Putting it back to the other view, it says 17.0W

The Cool Fire 4 Plus doesn't seem to give me the same options, when I hold the buttons, it says "1"

Thanks guys, I feel sure I'm in wattage mode, based on the other view seeming to read 400F. It does have a tiny wattage reading in the bottom corner on that view, which the lowest I can set it is 25W.

Holding the button and drawing, the first one is usually ok, but the second and third, it just stops doing anything after 2 seconds. I feel it getting weaker and weaker until it's like I've let go of the button.

Does that temperature operate in the background if I'm in W mode? Will it still use that judgement and cut out?

The coil is completely flush. I've taken it out and put it back in, and still the same happening.

Thank you for the welcome, and the support, it's appreciated.

I should add - When it stops me, if I then try drawing again, it tastes quite burned. The liquid is 60PG/40VG. Could the coils be struggling to draw it through?

Tank/coil is fucked ???

when you are wattage mode does the coil still read aprox 0.48 ???

did the Zlide come with a spare reg coil 0.8 or 1.6 Ohm ???
have you tried that by chance @ say 11~13w

I saw some reviews of people not impressed with the 3d coil
but no real problems, just they preferred the reg coils

I'm fairly sure they should ship with two coils, a spare 0.8 or 1.6
but this has changed on the spec of spare coil supplied
but my last suggestion is try the spare coil if you are wattage mode
(showing just the Ohms in small value, watts in larger numbers & voltage in small value)

other than that - tank is fucked is my guess
should be fine on 60/40, I'm using about 57/43 and no issues on Zenith, Zlide & RTA's

Thanks for the reply Fuctifino.

I eventually bit the bullet and tried the spare coils that came with both of them - They both have a 1.6 spare, and both had a plex3D/Pluxus installed. I'd held off replacing the coil since the kit was only a few hours out of the box.

I did try the Plex coils in both, with the 70VG liquid I have - Both seemed to completely fail to bring anything through, like I was vaping a dry tank.

The 1.6 coils seem to be working a lot better - I think potentially an issue is that I "chain vape", which isn't giving the thing time to restock? It takes a fair amount of effort with the 1.6 coils though, to get it anywhere near what the original coils were doing.

I think in a way I'm still a bit disappointed in both of them though - I absolutely love the design and the refill mechanisms, and the look, and have had zero leaks, but the power seems rather "meh". Maybe because I've spent 3 years on the iSub Apex? It's a bit like going from Marlboro Red to Silkcut

Try the 0.8 Ohm coils before you throw in the towel
I think they have the edge over the 1.6 coils - not a massive amount
but think they were better 0.8 @ 13w than say 1.6 @ 11w

NB: these watts are quite low, you can bump the power up a bit
adjust airflow etc....

never went DTL as MTL was more second nature to me

remember though that with MTL the drag/draw is smaller so likely you need more nic

MTL usually 18/16mg to quit, then say 12mg or maybe 9mg

I'm just about weaned down to 6mg DIY but chain it a little more on airy Hastur RTA
(others seem to be 9mg to 12mg MTL-ing)

If you was DTL-ing then you was likely on say 3mg to 6mg so might notice lack of nic hit

alas you might need to add a drop of nic shot or use a higher nic juice
(bit like putting cellotape around the Silk Cut filters to get a decent drag)

best of luck
