Italy 58.5% tax

I believe this came in on 1st January, but does anyone know if it is actually being charged/enforced in practice yet?

Probably what is being angled for by governments across the world.. it's a win/win for them.

If they can legitimise a link between smoking and vaping in the perception of the public, they they can get away with claiming to be acting morally/ethically, still reap in a shitload of tax revenue AND achieve the benefits of tobacco harm reduction all at the same time.

... which is why it's so important to promote and reinforce the fact that vaping is NOT smoking at every opportunity and take away their moral authority to levy punitive taxes.

Be visible, be unashamed and spread the message folks.

Clint - I think it's 58.5% specific e-cig tax plus 21% general VAT = (nearly) 80% tax in total.
