Alright guys.

I was kindly redirected here from my newbie post. Just ordered 100ml each of PG and VG and 100ml of 54mg nicotine in PG base. As well as a mixing kit.

I ordered from LT Ecigs "http://www.ltecigs.larsentilbrook.co.uk/" as the liquids were fairly cheap. What are people's experience with this company? Is it cheap for a reason or are they good quality mixing liquids?

Thought I'd have a go at a custard (seems a good starting point). Peanut butter and marshmallow is another I fancy trying!

Hints and tips welcome.

Cheers all.

Not a bad start at all, although I'd personally do a fruit-based juice as a first mix. I also bought a starter DIY kit with a custard concentrate and it took ages to steep. Like weeks....

Fruit juices tend to be good to vape straight away. Also you might consider pre-mixed concentrate such as the T-juice range. These give instant results as well.

Second point. Don't mix more than 10mls to start off, possibly even less. This is in case you create an unvapeable monster and have to bin it. As you have found out, Nic is expensive.

Third point. Write your recipes down with quantities etc. Then if it does produce nectar from the gods, you can easily replicate it/scale it up.

Good luck!

Ooh forgot something...

Point four. Once you are a happy DIYer, you can get your ingredients much cheaper if you shop around. For example, get your VG from Boots for about £2 per 200mls, PG from ebay, and loads of places to get your nic from. I had Alchemists Cupboard first then went onto this...

Liquid Nicotine 7.2% | Everything Liquid 250mls for £19.99 of 72% nic in PG

I get my PG / VG bottles from Chemicals | Product Categories | Everything Liquid

Grab some 5ml bottles and just start mixing with different levels of flavour concentrate to try and find the sweet spot for each of them. Custard takes a while though so you'll have to play the waiting game unless you buy some other concentrates to play around with while you're waiting.

Thanks both, these are really good bits of advice and I will take them on board!

I received my liquids today and have also received 5 or 6 flavour concentrates. Unfortunately I didn't order any fruity ones! :(

I am going to try a 10 ml mix of custard and also a chocolate fudge brownie just to see how they come out and in the meantime I will order some fruity concentrates.

daz_app have you found a fruity mix that is nectar from the gods? haha

Cheers.

Custard will take a LONG time to come round, couple of weeks at least. You can try it straight away, some have no issue with fresh juice but for me it takes a while before everything melds together to the 'nom' stage. The 'steeping' (maturation) process can be accelerated but worry about that later.

Wear some food prep gloves in case of any nicotine spills (the 54/72mg stuff absorbs through the skin very quickly and can cause uncomfortable effects or necessitate a visit to A&E)

Get yourself a program called e-juice me up and save your recipes as you go, saves writing it all down, makes percentages much easier too.

For now, just have fun, stick to simpler flavour combinations and make small batches in case it goes wrong or doesn't work like you thought it would.

Good luck! :)

Also, don't be nervous, everyone makes mistakes. The first time I built my own coils in my first RDA I wicked it then fired it without soaking it in juice. Cotton nearly went up in flames and had to start again. Just start small to begin with, then when you feel you've got your recipes and proportions down, then you can start making bigger batches.

Having just joined the forum today having recently started toying with mixing my own, this thread is an excellent find, just the link to Everything Liquid should save me a few quid. Cheers

well done on taking the leap
as daz says fruit takes about 3 seconds to steep mix it shake it vape it.
custard imo takes a good 6-8 weeks before i even try it. bit of a pita if your trying new custard recipes especially if they turn out shite.
as said when just starting mix simple one concentrate juices of flavours you know you like untill you feel confident enough that you like the flavours youve produced but want to jazz em up a little /mix together.
you will soon find your feet and wonder what all the fuss was about.
i mix testers of 10ml some folk do 5ml or even 2ml. you dont have to add the nic untill you are sure you like the juice.
if you mix a juice that tastes awful dont always throw it away it may come good and youve missed what could have been an epic vape. i have had juice that was absolutely terrible and forgot about it in the juice cupboard only to find it a month down the line and its fantastic.
and of course if you find that million pound juice dont be scared to share the recipe with me lol.
good luck
