Hi folks. So today a guy comes into my shop after seeing me throwing some clouds about a few weeks ago, he asked what the hell I was vaping on and after writing some useful sites and stuff down (here being the first one of course) he went away and got himself a kayfun and taifun gt from FastTech, I don't know why because I never even mentioned those!

Anyway he came in asking for my help today, he keeps getting "short" or "low read" I think it was, on his Sigelei somethingorother (tube mod with groves running the length of it)

I tried adjusting the centre pins, stripped them out and assembled them, put some fresh micro coils on them, still the same readings! Yet he tried my Hcigar kayfun on it and it worked perfectly, it had me stumped. I didn't have my ohm reader with me to make sure it wasn't the mod either.

Has anyone got any ideas? He will be coming back in to try them on my ohm reader at some point but I told him I would find out what's up with them.

Sorry for the long post, I've been working alone for 9 hours, I have lots to talk about!

I assume it was on both the Taifun and the Kayfun? Will be interesting to see the result of the ohm meter check as I suspect its more likely to be an issue with his mod if both RBA's are doing it.

Or he has built a 0.3 ohm coil.

The build will most likely be too low, think the siegel needs 1.3 and above to fire.

Adam, I have exactly the same Kayfun that you have (LOL) and I have found that using my ohmreader Box, it will occasionally show as being too low, but whack my multimeter on it and everything's fine. Strangely, this only happens with the Kayfun, no problems with anything else I use.

It happened on both the kayfun and taifun, but my kayfun fired fine, which had me confused. I built a coil I knew wouldn't be too low, put about 12 wraps of .3 round one of those tiny screwdrivers, the build I have in mine is 10 wraps and that reads 1.5ohm.

Bloody typical that I can't find my ohm reader anywhere!

The only thing I can think is his mod doesn't like cheap fast tech clones.

I will update this once he has been back in and I HAVE figured it out.

UPDATE: The guy came into my shop today chuffing away on a taifun gt. He said there are 2 settings on his mod, "RMS" and "Mean" they only work on one of those settings.

Can someone enlighten me on what the frickety frack they are? I'm a mech man, I have no idea!

I struggle to get my taifun gt to work on my vamo v5 it has to be really loose or it says short. The rms mode was removed on older models as ppl were complaining of burnt hits latest models have only rms mode. The mean is an average setting so voltage can vary. Try the rms mode. Maybe it's similar problem if it's vv/vw

From what I have deduced from the posts on this thread. The problem seems to be the center pin on the mod. I used to get the problem on my old Vmax. Where the denter pin on the mod would get pushed down to far, and it would short inside the mod. Solved the problem by putting a longer and slightly thicker grommet in it.
