Sue at Healthcabin sent this over for me to review for them. I am not affiliated with Healthcabin, nor do I receive payment for any of my reviews.
The Kumiho Thoth S Pod Kit
https://www.healthcabin.net/kumiho-thoth-s-pod-system-kit-p/30035.html
I reviewed the Thoth T for Healthcabin a few months ago now and quite liked the vape, but there were a couple of things that I’d have changed. No need for me to change them as Kumiho have clearly taken user feedback on board and have released the Thoth S, which is the Thoth T but new and upgraded with an added screen!
The Thoth S is a replaceable pod kit with a 1000mAh internal battery in it. Wattage is adjustable between 5 and 35w and there’s an airflow control to dial in the draw you prefer. You can fire using the button and it’s also an autodraw device so whatever floats your boat. Kumiho also have a range of Thoth pods that that all fit in this and the T model, so you’re sorted if you like MTL, all the way up to a nice RDL draw.
In the box you get:
1 Kumiho THOTH S Device
1 THOTH Series Pod Cartridge 0.6ohm
1 User Manual
A sparse offering but Healthcabin, very kindly, sent me a box of coils that had all the various resistances so I could experience the full range of the kit’s capabilities.
Style wise it’s similar to its predecessor the Thoth T. It’s a square pod kit that’s quite comfortable to hold. They’ve got rid of the big back panel that I felt restricted the button and have even moved the fire button to the front of the device. Much, much better for button firing, although the autofire is still good and seems that tint bit more responsive then before as well. The kit is still styled like a military radio, so it holds the charm, and the fidget spinner is still there so my addictive impulses are still catered to. There’s a screen on the front, just beneath the responsive, rubber fire button. It’s a basic little screen but gives you all the info you need, battery indication, lock indicator, ohms of pod and a puff count. The whole battery section feels a little more slimmed down, while still being reassuringly hefty to hold. The pod goes in the top and once the coil’s burnt out you can throw it out and put a new one in.
Function wise it’s 5 clicks to turn on or off, 3 clicks will allow you to change the wattage and there’s a smart function there that will only give you a range of wattages related to the resistance of the coil to choose from so you’re not scrolling round and round the whole 35w. If you click 5 times to turn off then you get to a screen that allows you to lock the device, re-set the puff counter or turn the whole thing off. It took me a while to find this as I was clicking twice or 4 times to get to that screen but it seems it’s 5 clicks.
In use it’s a decent kit overall. I tried all of the pod options this time as I had a range of juice I was trying out for the front review page and wanted to experience it in a pod kit. You can get pods from 1.2ohms up to 0.6ohms and I knew already from the Thoth T that the pods do take a little breaking in before the flavour shines, so I tooted away for a bit on each of them to see how the flavour changed. And it didn’t take too long to come through, perhaps a quarter or half a pod till the coils broke in. As always, my favourite was the 0.6ohm option so I could get a good bit of vapour while using 70/30 ratio juice and I enjoyed that on a nice loose setting for MTL and the occasional bit of RDL to boost it now and again. But, because of the airflow adjuster, you can set it how you prefer. The lowest setting gives a nice tight draw and then all in-between up to a nice loose MTL, fairly restricted RDL.
Overall the Thoth S is a good upgrade on the Thoth T. The T is a little more cumbersome and tricky to button fire, plus it doesn’t have the screen so if looking at one or the other I’d definitely recommend the Thoth S. It's lighter, looks nicer and gives just as nice a vape as it's slightly older cousin. Kumiho have done a good job with this one and I'm away now to look at what else they have to offer.
Thanks again to Sue at healthcabin. You can buy the Thoth S there and, as always, things are cheaper when you make an account.
