Mech Mods, why?

Please could someone tell me why mech mods are popular, indeed i admit lots look very nicley engineered and look to be made from quality materials. But i cant see a deal of advantage over a high capacity ego T. I can only imagine its the greater current that can be supplied by the superior battery, as the voltage cant be adjusted.
Id love to have one, but just need a reason lol.

well you can adjust voltage with a kick, i guess having a mech apart from nice shiny looks is the ability for using sub ohm based coils for huge vaping which egos and most vv's wont support as they cap at around 1.2 ohms. with most dual coil builds now im hitting around 0.6-0.8 ohms and get a ton of vape and flavour and i couldnt do that with an ego or PVR unit.

A bit like a Digital camera, yes you can put it in auto mode, but if you have an understanding of manual you will know what needs to be done to achieve results. With a camera in manual you will have control over aperture, shutter speed ISO and so fourth. With a mech you will get to know what atty, juice, wick types and so fourth are needed to get a good vape. Or in other words you override what a VV/VW would normaly be limiting you to do. Well that is how I see it anyway :D

Thanks for the great answers, its making sense why they are so popular now.
But , and please correct me, cant an 18650 discharge around 20 amps through a sub ohm coil? Almost a dead short.
Ah the penny is dropping now, huge clouds of vapour etc!!

Yes,which is why mechs are popular as VV a)won't go below 1.2 ohms & b)has current limiting that freaks above 6-10 amps

Mechs are smooooth. Regulated mods use Pulse Width Modulation.

Some people prefer mechs cos they are shiny and look nice etc etc. Some people prefer the way the vape feels. Some people like to be able to fix them easily if they break, or mod them and upgrade bits and pieces on them easily. Some people prefer to go with low ohm setups to get huge great clouds. Some people prefer the fact that they can be made much smaller as there is no need to put a PCB in there at all.

there's lots of reasons that mech devices are popular. I still use a v2 ZMax more often than not as I prefer the way the PWM vapes, but there's no accounting for taste.

This is why we love em for the clouds

If u put in a kick into the mech.. Doesn't it become a VV / vW ? Then the only benefit would be that u can go sub-ohm right? Or is there more to it?

Using a kick will make it variable wattage (that's if the device is capable of housing a kick). I'm almost certain that you will not be able to go "sub ohm" with a kick. I don't use a kick in my mechanical devices.
