I know and it does my head in, as soon as I see one pop up I leave the site I'm on and don't usually return, I don't understand why they do it how could me knowing what Dave from Blackpool just bought be useful?

My guess, buying patterns have been researched and we’re supposed to feel encouraged to buy something. Almost like the feeling that we’re missing out.
