Hi,

See if I make a batch of e-liquid without nicotine and let it steep for a bit, can I still add nicotine to it later on say after a week or 2 or do I have to add it when initially making the mix?

You can always add stuff to a mix, including nicotine.
Taking stuff out , not so easy.

Nice one! Just to clarify, I could make a 100ml batch of custard, after a week or 2 of steeping I could just add in the nicotine?

Custard is not my kind of thing, I am mainly baccy flavours + fruit but I see no reason why not.
You may have to give it a couple of extra days to blend properly but it should be ok.
Some people mix without nic to test flavours before adding nic, so as not to waste nic if the flavours do not work together.
For me I put it all together even on a test mix because for me the nic is part of the flavour.
Feel free to experiment there is not one proper way.

I've got a question for you viper ... why?
Maybe you have all the ingredients and are just awaiting a nic delivery. If so, as the hippy says, go for it. Your custard juice will probably not darken until you add the nic.
Intrigued to know if there's another reason for doing this. Perhaps you want to try zero nic juices?

Although it won't make much difference, seeing as the quantities of the addition will be small, you might like to consider the dilution effect to the flavour and increase your flavouring proportionally at the mixing stage? Doubt it will be much of a big deal, all depends upon how fastidious your are.

Yeah, I assumed that the mixing calc was done beforehand and the final ingredient going in later. For whatever reason, perhaps to get steeping underway if he has no nic.

I can't imagine it's about the flavour ... nobody mixes up 100mls to do a flavour test. Unless he's testing with versus without nic.

lol thanks for all the replies. I was actually having a think about it after and yes many other things came up.....it won't steep well without the nic........then there was the issue of the calculating the nic to be added later.

Hmmm guess I should just nice steep it normally with the nic.

I wouldn't worry about it ... do the calculation for the full 100mls, mix it all up and leave the nic to be added later. Just leave a note to remind you how much nic has to be added to that bottle.
Certainly will not hurt the maturation time, it'll just need a second thorough mixing.

any custard quicker to steep?

Is there a simple custard mix/recipe that will be quicker to steep or are all custards long steepers? When I say simple and quick, I mean as in just a custard mix with single vanilla custard flavour and nothing else. Just wondering if it will be quicker to steep?

Also has anyone noticed a difference between the diketone free vanilla custards and with ones that do have diketone in them? I know it may all just be down to preference but would like to know if there is a noticeable difference and which one is better, or which one gets the most vote on here? :)

thanks
